NWU Gender Studies majors see the world as so much more than black and white. If you’re deeply curious and comfortable with complexity, then an NWU Gender Studies degree is made for you.

NWU Gender Studies is Nebraska Wesleyan’s most interdisciplinary academic program. It features professors from 11 fields of study—men and women who teach everything from anthropology to theatre.

Because gender influences so many fields—from health science to history—gender studies is a popular choice among NWU students with multiple majors. Their appreciation of gender’s complexity makes them better professionals, no matter which fields they choose for their careers.

Take business as one example. Competence in gender issues will give you a better understanding of your customers, your employees, your partners and the organizations around you. You will profit in multiple ways from that increased understanding.

Academically equivalent, both bachelor’s of art and bachelor’s of science will full prepare you for a career in economics. Economics is traditionally viewed as a liberal arts major and therefore students often choose the B.A. degree.

The business-sociology degree combines courses in business, accounting and economics with courses in sociology and anthropology.

The combination of chemistry-based curriculum with a significant biology research component prepares our students for postgraduate studies in biomedical sciences. While biochemistry focuses on the structure and function of compounds like DNA, enzymes and proteins, molecular biology focuses on how molecules convert information into chemical reactions. Hands-on experimentation is central to the curriculum, which allows students to engage in high-level work that most of their peers do not experience until graduate school.

The mission of the Social Work Program at Nebraska Wesleyan University is to prepare students for entry into professional generalist social work practice with a commitment to promoting social justice and enhancing human well being for individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities.

Academically equivalent, both bachelor’s of art and bachelor’s of science will full prepare you for a career in Business Administration. If you choose to graduate with two majors, and one major is only offered as a B.A. or B.S., the second major should match the first degree.

The Bachelor of Science degree is designed for those students pursuing employment or further education in physics or engineering

Students majoring in Health and Fitness Studies may pursue interest in such areas as personal training, strength and conditioning training, worksite wellness, health promotions, fitness centers, and graduate school. See your advisor regarding possible career choices and graduate school requirements.

As the most popular Health and Human Performance major, nearly 50% of our Exercise Science students apply to graduate schools to study physical therapy, physician’s assistant, chiropractic or occupational therapy. An internship and a full-year of research and statistics are required.

Students interested in health-related professions such as physical therapy, occupational therapy and chiropractics may elect to major in Exercise Science. Students should consult with their advisor regarding pre professional requirements and suggested program of study.

The Bachelor of Arts degree is designed for those students who want a solid physics education with a broad liberal arts background and will be pursuing further education or employment in fields other than physics or engineering.
