The Africana Studies program at Rowan is devoted to the study of the historical and contemporary challenges, experiences, and contributions of Africans, African Americans, and people of African descent throughout the world. One of the program's greatest strengths is its unique interdisciplinary approach to global black studies that offers students an array of courses from 12 academic departments on campus. Students can major or double major in Africana Studies, or pursue a minor.

Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Rowan is a modern, innovative, hands-on project-based program, where we train and graduate proficient engineers who will be successful in solving not only today’s problems, but also tomorrow’s evolving and emerging engineering challenges. Electrical and computer engineers pioneered the invention of smartphones, computers, smart grids, digital cameras, GPS systems, medical imaging devices and computer games.

The mission of the finance program is to provide students with challenging career-oriented undergraduate and graduate preparation needed to be successful in finance careers and to pursue graduate studies.

Finance career opportunities may be sought in such areas as financial analysis, cash management, credit analysis, pension and investment fund management, capital budgeting analysis, investment and commercial banking, and securities management.

The Bachelor of Science degree is designed for students interested in scientific careers or pursuing graduate studies. Field experiences are an essential element of our curriculum, beginning in the first year.

Students earning a BS in Environmental Science will leave Rowan University with a broad understanding of several scientific disciplines and mathematics. Course requirements offer flexibility within the degree, not only with a number of elective credits but with choices among specialized courses.

BS students integrate the foundations of biology, chemistry, physics and other core STEM disciplines with their understanding of environmental issues. The B.S. Degree in Biochemistry, an interdisciplinary program, is designed to prepare students for a career in biochemistry or graduate studies. The program combines the value of a liberal education with appropriate classroom and laboratory training in chemistry, biology, math and physics. The focus is on a molecular approach to studying living systems. The biochemistry major can choose to specialize in related areas of chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics or structural biology, pre-med, allied health sciences or biomedical sciences by a careful selection of elective courses. The emphasis in all courses is on the acquisition of a solid knowledge base combined with hands-on laboratory work using modern equipment. Each student is expected to carry out a laboratory-based research project.
