Our Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering prepares professionals to respond to the changing needs of engineers today. A research-based degree, the M.S. in Biomedical Engineering includes additional graduate-level Biomedical Engineering coursework, which gives you an opportunity to expand your skill set in advanced topics of interest. Those advanced topics include Biomaterials Engineering, Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, Bioinstrumentation, Biomechanics and Mechanobiology, Immunoengineering, and other emerging areas.

As a bioinformatician, you might study human diseases, find new, more powerful drugs, or unlock the secret biology of an organism. A few lines of programming code puts genomes at your fingertips.

The Africana Studies program at Rowan is devoted to the study of the historical and contemporary challenges, experiences, and contributions of Africans, African Americans, and people of African descent throughout the world. One of the program's greatest strengths is its unique interdisciplinary approach to global black studies that offers students an array of courses from 12 academic departments on campus. Students can major or double major in Africana Studies, or pursue a minor.

Southern New Jersey's fastest-growing demographic of minorities is a microcosm of America's increasingly diverse populations that live in majority-minority cities across the country. As the nation and the world become more diverse, it is important for universities to offer majors like Africana Studies that will help students to not only develop race literacy, but also to learn other cultural competencies needed to excel in an increasingly multicultural workplace and globalized world. Rowan's Physics major balances general physics courses that develop analytical skills needed for any career direction with more advanced courses in highly technical areas. The department also offers coursework in astronomy and astrophysics. Personal attention is a hallmark of the program: enrollment in laboratory-based physics classes is limited to 24 students per section, and all lectures and labs are taught by faculty, not teaching assistants. In our junior-level Research Methods courses, students will have access to state-of-the-art equipment as they plan and execute a project under the direction of our research faculty. Physics majors can enter fields such as education, going on to teach at the secondary level, or pursue an advanced degree to become a college profesor and/or conduct research; others may enter fields such as busiess, computers, engineering, finance, law, and medicine.

In an economic world in which competitive advantage is increasingly based on knowledge and creativity, effective Human Resources functions are crucial for organizations that want to improve their productivity. The Rowan University Human Resources Management program prepares graduates for the profession using a blend of classroom, extra-, and co-curricular experiences, such as internships and project-based learning assignments.

The Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology degree, through the four-field approach of cultural, physical, linguistic, and archaeology, is designed to prepare students to succeed in the 21st century and find employment in research, teaching, development, advocacy, health care among diverse populations, consumer research, community-based organizations, non-profits, and public service. Anthropology Majors will have the option of concentrating their studies in one of four subfield tracks. These are forensic anthropology, museum studies, medical anthropology, and cultural resource management and archaeology. The BA Anthropology degree will also support those students who wish to pursue further study in graduate or professional schools. By acquiring an anthropological perspective on diversity, culture, and ethnography as well as developing strong social and natural scientific research skills, students will expand their career opportunities.

Management Concentration

The MBA Concentration in Management of Information Systems (MIS) will enhance a student's preparedness to assume jobs in a world of rapidly changing technology by preparing them to develop business solutions through the use of information and technology resources. Students will gain experience in dealing with technological issues, understanding the role of humans in developing technology-based solutions and learn to manage technology-related projects.

Our M.S. in Computer Science provides a higher level of understanding in computational science and its application to a variety of fields, including education, industry, research, business and government. As a student, you have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of advanced topics to tailor their coursework to meet your career and personal goals. Project-intensive courses provide hands-on experience with popular technologies such as game design, robotics and computer graphics.

The Bachelor of Arts degree is designed for careers in environmental consulting, management, science writing, or science education. While also rigorous, the BA is a more flexible pathway with enough free electives to permit a second major in areas such as Education, Communications, Environmental & Sustainability Studies, or Geology.

BA students integrate the foundations of biology, chemistry, physics and other core STEM disciplines with their understanding of environmental issues. Environmental scientists are on the front line of documenting environment change and developing solutions to modern problems that impact everyone on Earth.

Our Master of Science in Electrical & Computer Engineering gives engineering professionals the opportunity to expand their skill sets in highly specialized areas of interest. Every course in the program is a lab course, which provides an applied, hands-on education to build the knowledge and training needed to contribute to the engineering field. Specializations and focus areas provide the opportunity to study a specific topic in the electrical and computer industry.

Students may choose between a thesis track and a coursework track or elect to work on a project which may count toward a coursework track degree. In order to be eligible for a Research Fellowship, students must select the thesis track.
