The B.S. Degree in Biochemistry, an interdisciplinary program, is designed to prepare students for a career in biochemistry or graduate studies. The program combines the value of a liberal education with appropriate classroom and laboratory training in chemistry, biology, math and physics. The focus is on a molecular approach to studying living systems. The biochemistry major can choose to specialize in related areas of chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics or structural biology, pre-med, allied health sciences or biomedical sciences by a careful selection of elective courses. The emphasis in all courses is on the acquisition of a solid knowledge base combined with hands-on laboratory work using modern equipment. Each student is expected to carry out a laboratory-based research project.

Those advanced topics include Biomaterials Engineering, Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, Bioinstrumentation, Biomechanics and Mechanobiology, Immunoengineering, and other emerging areas.

The Biophysics major prepares students for medical school, graduate school in biophysics and for careers in medical industry. Immerse yourself in an interdisciplinary major that will prepare you to employ the power of physics, chemistry and math to study biological processes, understand how to prevent diseases, design cures or develop novel technologies.

Biophysics harnesses several branches of science to explore the biological systems and the physical properties of their molecules. A degree in biophysics will prepare you to work in research institutes, medical centers, with the government or at universities.

Translational Biomedical Sciences is a program that provides diverse training in life sciences, mathematics, statistics, and the physical sciences. This major’s bench-to-bedside focus translates innovative basic science data to improved biomedical and clinically-related outcomes, by turning scientific innovations into diagnostic tools, therapeutics, etc. Students are immersed in cutting-edge research within faculty laboratories while learning the underlying molecular concepts that drive cellular and organismal systems.

Our M.S. in Computer Science provides a higher level of understanding in computational science and its application to a variety of fields, including education, industry, research, business and government. The mission of the Psychology Department, as part of the College of Science & Mathematics at Rowan University, is to provide a high-quality education to undergraduate and graduate students, engage in cutting-edge research in a variety of disciplines and sub-disciplines within psychology and to provide services to children and their families in the South Jersey region.

To achieve our mission, the department at Rowan University offers two undergraduate degree programs: Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (33 credits) and a Bachelor of Science in Psychological Science (60 credits).

The Department of Journalism prepares students to be successful news and media professionals.

Our curriculum is grounded in the fundamentals of journalism history, law and ethics. Students learn the basics of reporting, writing and editing while covering campus events and local news in South Jersey. Our courses also provide the preparation and skills needed to compete in a fast-changing media landscape with courses in social media, data journalism, media metrics and entrepreneurial journalism.
