AUM’s BSBA in Finance offers a mix of applied and theoretical courses with an emphasis on applying practical knowledge and skills in the workplace. Through the successful completion of courses in the Finance core, you will garner the terminology, tools and skills necessary for a career in the financial services industry or functional area of financial management, as well as for graduate study. The program requires completion of a broad core of lower division courses that comprise the AUM core curriculum and an upper division business core that emphasizes a common body of knowledge and tools underlying the successful practice of business administration.

In this program you’ll learn to determine the value of businesses, help new businesses find the capital they need to succeed or assist a young couple in planning for a comfortable retirement. You’ll get a solid foundation in financial institutions, financial planning, and financial management before choosing to concentrate in one of these areas or select advanced courses in finance, accounting or economics.

Anthropology is the study of all humans, past and present. Per the American Anthropological Association, anthropology helps one to “understand the full sweep and complexity of cultures across all of human history” as it draws from social, biological, and physical sciences, as well as the humanities. The study of anthropology provides you with skills that are useful for living and working in today’s world and interacting with people from many different cultural backgrounds. Anthropology graduates are critical thinkers and effective communicators who are able to be productive members of working groups by generating relevant information and making informed decisions. Anthropological training concentrates on three broadly transferable skill areas — understanding human diversity, building research skills for collecting and making sense of information, and communicating effectively.

The complement of knowledge gained through the study of anthropology is applicable to a wide array of careers. Government, academia, business, and community service organizations are four of the job sectors that many undergraduate anthropology students pursue. Careers in broadcasting, journalism, public relations, videography, multimedia production, documentary filmmaking and other communication fields start with AUM’s bachelor’s degree in Communication. You can choose from three concentrations: Communication Studies, Journalism, and Public Relations.

In the Communication Studies track, you’ll learn about media law and ethics, media writing and researching, and the purposes, functions and effects of the mass media on individuals, institutions, culture and social structure. The Journalism track allows you to dive deeper to develop your writing and editing skills, along with learning digital video production. For those who would like to have a career in public relations, this track helps you understand PR programs and planning, along with developing your writing, editing and research skills specific to the profession.

A degree in Economics from AUM provides students with analytical tools and practical skills to succeed in business, finance and government. This is achieved by offering a mix of theoretical and applied courses in economics, the function of markets around the world and optimal criteria for decision-making.

Economics not only teaches the most relevant set of facts and skills, but also imparts the analytical and intellectual rigor that makes it among the most widely respected degrees. Careers in Economics vary across a wide spectrum due to the degree’s versatility and respect, and Payscale.com reports that Economics has the 4th highest starting salaries among Bachelors’ degrees.

The program is affiliated with the National Society for Human Resources Management and has a curriculum that presents state-of-the-art practices in human resources. Students are provided with the knowledge and skills needed to be competitive in this constantly changing field.

The six-course HRM core requires work in personnel management, selection, labor relations, compensation, training, and labor law. Beyond the six-required HRM courses, students can tailor their program with the choice of two HRSM elective courses.

Build a career helping businesses hire, train, manage, and keep the best employees with AUM’s College of Business Human Resource Management concentration within the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree.

If you want to spend your life immersed in the world of history, art, and culture, major in Art History within the Fine Arts Department. In AUM’s interdisciplinary Art History program, you’ll be introduced to the history of Western Civilization through an examination of images, artifacts, buildings, and works of art. Our program offers courses on art from the Ancient world to the Contemporary and encourages students to consider works of art and architecture as dynamic objects that reflect the cultural and social history of the time in which they were made. You’ll also be trained in highly desirable, transferable skills prized by employers, such as visual literacy, critical thinking, primary research, and effective written and oral communication skills.

To meet the needs of today’s organizations — and ensure that its business school students graduate with a set of skills that will set them apart in the marketplace — the College of Business designed its Entrepreneurship program to challenge students in a new way and inspire creative thinking. Our faculty – many of them successful practitioners in their field – deliver hands-on instruction in small-class environments.

The BSBA in Entrepreneurships prepare graduates to:

• Develop an effective, innovative business plan
• Identify and acquire the resources needed for the creation and implementation of a new venture, including financial, human, and managerial resources
• Understand risk and its effect on new ventures and analyze financial data to support business decisions and assessment of business strategies
