Auburn University at Montgomery’s School of Accountancy is the only AACSB – International separately accredited accounting program in Montgomery and the River Region and ranks the program in the top of all business AACSB accredited programs in the world. The program provides both undergraduate and graduate courses that prepare the student for entry-level positions in accounting, for graduate studies, and for meeting the education requirements to sit for the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) examination in Alabama.

The education requirements to take the Uniform CPA Examination as an Alabama candidate are higher than the minimum requirements for the B.S.B.A.  The additional requirements can be satisfied through undergraduate or graduate accounting courses at AUM.  Over 1/3 of accounting enrollments are post baccalaureate students completing their accounting requirements to sit for the CPA exam.

The Visual Art program teaches students the traditional principles, methods, techniques and historical background of art necessary for building specialized roles in the art field. The Visual Art concentration emphasizes personal expression and specialization for preparation to become a practicing artist or candidate for graduate programs.

The Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies is a distinctive degree plan designed to serve students with unique needs or academic interests. The flexibility of the program makes it ideal for students returning to the university to complete a degree or those who have completed significant credit hours at another institution, military service school, or in another degree plan. It is also a perfect fit for students who want to create an individually-tailored course of studies.

Environmental scientists use their knowledge of earth’s systems to protect the environment and human health. They do this by cleaning up contaminated areas, making policy recommendations, or working with industry to reduce pollution and waste. Soil and plant scientists, and ecologists often work in remediation efforts, for a sanitation company, in manufacturing, at a university, or for a not-for-profit organization. Other environmental scientists are engaged in environmental policy, planning, and management for local governments, performing research-intensive work. Some professionals in this field have careers at the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Park Service, the United States Geological Survey and other agencies.

Environmental scientists are problem solvers. They research environmental and health problems to determine their causes and come up with solutions. They also use what they learn to make recommendations and develop strategies for managing environmental problems. If you want to spend your life immersed in the world of history, art, and culture, major in Art History within the Fine Arts Department. In AUM’s interdisciplinary Art History program, you’ll be introduced to the history of Western Civilization through an examination of images, artifacts, buildings, and works of art. Our program offers courses on art from the Ancient world to the Contemporary and encourages students to consider works of art and architecture as dynamic objects that reflect the cultural and social history of the time in which they were made. You’ll also be trained in highly desirable, transferable skills prized by employers, such as visual literacy, critical thinking, primary research, and effective written and oral communication skills.

Physical Education (P-12)
The undergraduate Physical Education Teacher certification program prepares candidates to teach physical education in a P-12 setting.  Candidates must meet Auburn University at Montgomery and Alabama Department of Education teacher certification requirements. An internship is required.

Educated individuals who have an understanding of the global diversity existing in the corporate world today are valuable participants in global business ventures. Today companies need individuals who can understand how to work within a setting surrounded by different languages, and who can take into account the broader perspective of trade regulations of different governing bodies. The BSBA integrated curriculum helps students to:

• Demonstrate an understanding of the environmental aspects of international business in a variety of contexts, including socio-cultural, political, financial, and economic.
• Critically synthesizing, analyzing, and interpreting data to use in effective decision-making.
• Gain an understanding of the international dimensions of business functions, including marketing, finance, management, and operations.
• Critically analyze and communicate complex business issues in multinational markets.

Sport Management
The undergraduate Sport Management program at AUM will assist students in preparing for sport-related careers.  A combination of sport related coursework and business class work will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to enter the sport industry.  The courses focus on the uniqueness of sports in areas such as marketing, facility management, risk management and legal issues, leadership, ethics, etc.  An internship is required.
