Our Bachelor of Arts in sociology gives you an understanding of these social contexts and helps you develop skills in oral and written communication, critical thinking, and research. Because our faculty specialize in a wide range of fields, you’ll take courses on organizations, criminal and deviant behavior, social psychological processes, family life, legal institutions, medical systems, human population dynamics, and international development. The law and justice major is designed to better prepare students for law school by using an interdisciplinary approach, offering courses in political science, philosophy, communication and journalism.

The applied biotechnology major at Auburn is an interdisciplinary program that brings together the multidisciplinary expertise of faculty from various departments within the College of Agriculture. Our Department of Horticulture has been recognized nationally for its research programs, its student-centered faculty members and its high rate of employment for graduates. As a horticulture major, you’ll learn how to establish, propagate, harvest and manage fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants. You’ll also learn the principles of landscape design to create and manage aesthetically pleasing environments.

Students will develop demonstrated capabilities in core chemical engineering topics including material and energy balances, thermodynamics, chemical equilibria, heat, mass and momentum transfer, chemical reaction engineering, continuous and stagewise separation operations, process dynamics, statistics and control. The curriculum ranges from elementary design principles in material and energy balances to the capstone senior process design and process control sequence by employing advanced computer process and control simulators and experimental control systems.

Computer engineering emphasizes design, implementation and maintenance of hardware and software components of modern computing systems, computer-controlled equipment, and networks of intelligent devices.

The BA curriculum in Chemistry provides a strong background in chemistry while allowing students to specialize in areas of interest. It is especially well suited for students leaning towards medical sciences while allowing more flexibility than that allowed in the American Chemical Society approved biochemistry curriculum. The program allows for great versatility in the junior and senior years, allowing the curriculum to be tailored to individual goals. The curriculum prepares students for professional careers in chemistry or biochemistry and advanced degree programs in chemistry, biochemistry and medically related fields.
