The Department offers the Organismal Biology major leading to the Bachelor of Science degree.  The curricula for this major is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in biology as well as providing the opportunity for specialization. This program also provides a strong preparation for further study in graduate programs or in professional schools, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and other allied health fields.

The applied biotechnology major at Auburn is an interdisciplinary program that brings together the multidisciplinary expertise of faculty from various departments within the College of Agriculture. This major will prepare you to meet the needs of today’s rapidly growing biotechnology and biomedical industries, equipping you with the specialized knowledge, skills and techniques this exciting field demands.

As a biotechnologist, you will be trained to apply advanced science and engineering to some of the world’s leading issues through alternative energy sources, safer plant- and animal-based products, management of crop damage, reduced production costs and more.

What you’ll Study
Your major’s courses will go beyond general biology to include genetics and genomics, microbiology, cell biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences and related disciplines. You’ll also get hands-on experience with molecular techniques in state-of-the-art research labs on-campus and gain real-world experience as an intern with a biotechnology-related company. This will help you build the strong scientific background and research skills necessary for employment within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.

Our Bachelor of Arts in music is a unique combination of music training and a traditional liberal arts education. We blend academic knowledge, musical ability, and performance skills to create musicians and music scholars who contribute intellectually and creatively to society through music. You'll take courses in applied lessons, ensemble participation, music history, music theory, aural skills, conducting, and upper division courses in music. Our BA in music emphasizes critical thinking, time management, self-discipline, and practical skill development.

Auburn University's M.S. in Mathematics program develops your content knowledge in two key ways. First, through coursework taught in small classes by internationally recognized faculty. The Department of Aerospace Engineering offers both a thesis and non-thesis Master of Science, which provide students an opportunity to sharpen their skills in aerospace system design, development, manufacturing, maintenance, and operation. Applied mathematics is a branch of mathematics that deals with mathematical methods that find use in science, engineering, business, computer science, and industry. Thus, applied mathematics is a combination of mathematical science and specialized knowledge. The term "applied mathematics" also describes the professional specialty in which mathematicians work on practical problems by formulating and studying mathematical models. In the past, practical applications have motivated the development of mathematical theories, which then became the subject of study in pure mathematics where abstract concepts are studied for their own sake. The activity of applied mathematics is thus intimately connected with research in pure mathematics.

The Department of Biological Science offers three majors leading to the Bachelor of Science degree (Marine Biology; Microbial, Cellular & Molecular Biology; Organismal Biology).  The curricula for these majors are designed to provide students with a solid foundation in biology as well as providing the opportunity for specialization.  All of these majors also provide a strong preparation for further study in graduate programs or in professional schools, including medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and other allied health fields.

The Department of Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) prepares undergraduate students for a variety of exciting and challenging career opportunities including: preschool teaching; administering programs for young children, adolescents, and adults; parent education; mental health services; child advocacy; and cooperative extension. Senior HDFS interns have been placed in outstanding work settings throughout the United States such as Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital, the Children's Television Workshop/Sesame Street, Walt Disney World, and the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Interns have also been placed in many local schools, counseling centers, social service agencies, court systems, and assisted living facilities for seniors.
