The Hospitality Management (HOSP) program provides a strong educational foundation and excellent career preparation for students interested in the premium service segment of the hospitality industry. The HOSP curriculum offers a variety of courses and unique experiential learning opportunities designed to prepare our graduates to pursue successful management and/or entrepreneurial opportunities in the hotel/lodging, restaurant, event planning, culinary, country club, foodservice or beverage industries.

Culinary Science is designed to attract students pursuing careers in the commercial, and non-commercial food production and service industry. As is the case both nationally and globally, the culinary field now makes a significant contribution to the socio-economic wellbeing of the state of Alabama and the nation. Interest in the culinary field has continued to grow at an enormous pace with culinary professionals now needed not just in hotel dining facilities and traditional restaurants, but in a variety of settings including the public and private sector, consumer-oriented and institutional. This study option is designed to position Auburn University to keep pace with this vital economic contributor by educating the trained professionals needed to meet the continuing demands of the state’s and nation's ever-developing hospitality industry. The program will underscore the importance of local and sustainable food systems as a means of educating and preparing graduates that will make a meaningful contribution to our planet, industry and global society’s long-term future. In so doing it will concentrate on the technical proficiency, scientific rigor and managerial know-how needed to make this contribution.

Auburn University's Master of Science in Statistics program balances the theory and application of statistics. The curriculum focuses on two key elements required of professional statisticians. To accomplish these objectives, food scientists use their scientific training within the multi-billion dollar food industry. Food Science graduates are prepared to enter many areas of the food industry, including quality control, research and development, and management.

As a student in food science, you’ll have the opportunities to be a part of the food industry through internships and other problem-solving experiences linked directly to industry needs and issues. You’ll also have access to undergraduate research experiences that will prepare you for work on graduate or professional degrees.

What you will study
The food science major blends a strong foundation in the basic sciences with the expertise of faculty from the departments of animal sciences, poultry science, and biosystems engineering.

Food science is a multidisciplinary scientific field where concepts of chemistry, biology, physics, mathematics, engineering and nutrition are utilized to develop and produce foods that are safe, palatable, healthy and economical.

After completing coursework in the basic sciences, you’ll take specialized courses in food chemistry, food analysis, food engineering, food microbiology, processing and product development. An internship or other approved practical experience is required for the food science major and you may also participate in a variety of undergraduate research opportunities as a student in food science.

The Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering provides students an opportunity to use scientific principles and engineering concepts and practices to design, build, test and operate aerospace, aviation and aeronautical systems and vehicles, including involvement in the design, development and production of vehicles for flight, both in and beyond the atmosphere.
