Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

Our Bachelor of Arts degree in art (formal option - art history) provides you with an understanding of the historical and intellectual significance of a range of artistic forms and practices around the world, from prehistoric times to the present. The Master of Science in CSSE provides both online and on-campus students an opportunity for advanced learning and creative research. Students will further their education through a balanced program in both instruction and research with the goal of achieving excellence in the field of computer science and software engineering. On-campus students may choose the thesis or non-thesis option. Online students can choose a non-thesis (courses only) or, with special permission from the department, the thesis option. Bachelor of Wireless Engineering

The program, a joined offering of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, is designed to develop within its graduates a basic foundation in wireless engineering that will provide the technical proficiency needed for the professional practice of engineering in the wireless industry, the ability to communicate their ideas effectively within the technical community and the general public and an enthusiasm for lifelong scientific inquiry.

To complete the program you must:

  • Choose a specialized track - wireless hardware or wireless software
  • For the wireless hardware track, complete coursework including circuit analysis, communications, digital systems, electronics, electromagnetism and wireless communications and networks

The Hospitality Management (HOSP) program provides a strong educational foundation and excellent career preparation for students interested in the premium service segment of the hospitality industry. The HOSP curriculum offers a variety of courses and unique experiential learning opportunities designed to prepare our graduates to pursue successful management and/or entrepreneurial opportunities in the hotel/lodging, restaurant, event planning, culinary, country club, foodservice or beverage industries.

Culinary Science is designed to attract students pursuing careers in the commercial, and non-commercial food production and service industry. As is the case both nationally and globally, the culinary field now makes a significant contribution to the socio-economic wellbeing of the state of Alabama and the nation. Interest in the culinary field has continued to grow at an enormous pace with culinary professionals now needed not just in hotel dining facilities and traditional restaurants, but in a variety of settings including the public and private sector, consumer-oriented and institutional.
