Our major in animal sciences (ANSC) will prepare you for a career in veterinary medicine, medicine, equine science, food safety, animal and allied industries and related areas. The program is also excellent preparation for graduate studies in fields such as animal nutrition, biochemistry and molecular biology, microbiology, growth biology, meat science and muscle biology, breeding and genetics, and reproductive biology.

Historians enjoy reading, are curious about people, and have a desire to use the past as a lens through which to view the present. Our Bachelor of Arts in history equips you with the ability to ask clear questions, to research the information necessary for a well-constructed answer, to write factually and persuasively, and to think historically.

Our Department of Horticulture has been recognized nationally for its research programs, its student-centered faculty members and its high rate of employment for graduates. As a horticulture major, you’ll learn how to establish, propagate, harvest and manage fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants. You’ll also learn the principles of landscape design to create and manage aesthetically pleasing environments.

Emphasis in Nursery and Greenhouse Science
As a student in nursery and greenhouse science major option, you will learn how to manage container nurseries, field nurseries and greenhouses for the production of woody and herbaceous perennial ornamentals, annuals and florist crops.

Applied mathematics is a branch of mathematics that deals with mathematical methods that find use in science, engineering, business, computer science, and industry. Thus, applied mathematics is a combination of mathematical science and specialized knowledge. The term "applied mathematics" also describes the professional specialty in which mathematicians work on practical problems by formulating and studying mathematical models. In the past, practical applications have motivated the development of mathematical theories, which then became the subject of study in pure mathematics where abstract concepts are studied for their own sake. The activity of applied mathematics is thus intimately connected with research in pure mathematics.

Our School of Fisheries, Aquaculture & Aquatic Sciences is the one of the world’s premier warm-water fisheries programs. As a student majoring in fisheries, aquaculture and aquatic sciences, you’ll receive a strong foundation in chemistry, mathematics and biology while learning how to apply these subjects to managing fresh and saltwater aquatic resources.

This degree will equip you with an understanding of the principles used in solving problems with aquatic resources and the awareness to provide safe, reliable food through aquaculture production. Graduates of this program are also prepared for veterinary medicine and other professional and graduate schools.

They design and build sustainable roads, bridges, buildings and other structures that facilitate the efficient delivery of goods, services and utilities.This degree program prepares students to practice professionally in a competitive global environment, working as efficient team members and leaders in the planning, construction or operation of infrastructure systems.

Our Bachelor of Arts in sociology gives you an understanding of these social contexts and helps you develop skills in oral and written communication, critical thinking, and research. Because our faculty specialize in a wide range of fields, you’ll take courses on organizations, criminal and deviant behavior, social psychological processes, family life, legal institutions, medical systems, human population dynamics, and international development. You’ll examine communication in areas such as leadership, politics, and health, and take courses on social discourse, research methods, rhetoric, and intercultural communication.

Our Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre management leads to a professional career as a stage or production manager for theaters, concert venues, or theme parks. You’ll take courses in stage management, production management, and events management, as well as related courses in civic engagement, public relations, and business. There are numerous opportunities on and off-campus for hands-on experience as a house manager, production assistant, events manager, assistant stage manager, or production stage manager.
