The Master of Applied Mathematics program at Auburn University offers flexibility, expert faculty, and mentorship opportunities. Auburn's anthropology program features four sub-fields: sociocultural anthropology (how people in different places live and understand the world around them), archaeology (material evidence of how societies change over time), biological anthropology (human variation, evolution, and adaptation to the environment), and linguistics (relationship between language and culture). With a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology, you'll be able to apply your knowledge to global issues outside of the classroom in areas such as social and environmental policy, medical anthropology, forensic anthropology, museum studies, cultural resource management, and historic preservation. Each of the four subfields of anthropology can be applied to solve real world problems.

The law and justice major is designed to better prepare students for law school by using an interdisciplinary approach, offering courses in political science, philosophy, communication and journalism.

The Master of Science in Data Science and Engineering program, offered on campus and online, prepares students to pursue careers in data science and engineering, where valuable insights are derived from massive amounts of raw data. Our high?quality curriculum offers an excellent balance between theory and application, equipping students with foundational skills and state?of?the?art technologies related to the next generation of big data applications.

On-campus students will be able to complete this graduate program in one to two years, while online students typically have up to six years to complete their coursework. This program blends graduate?level courses in core topics like data mining, machine learning, and statistical learning. The program also offers a wide variety of electives in addition to a required capstone experience, in which students apply their knowledge and skills to a real?world application scenario.

There are two formal options in the program: the data engineering option, administered by the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, and the data science option, managed by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Both options are now available to online students.

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in social work is a dynamic degree program that equips you with the professional knowledge, values, and skills to engage in generalist social work practice across social work settings. You'll learn from professors who have both research and clinical backgrounds in mental health, children and families, gerontology, policy analysis, disabilities, crisis management, and homelessness.

Our creative writing major is an exciting learning experience that spans multiple genres. You’ll take courses that focus on the “architecture” of stories, poems, and essays; learn how each piece works; and apply those lessons to the creation of your original work. Workshops, conferences, and discussions of craft are the focal point of classroom instruction.

Your studies as a Biological and Agricultural Technology Management (BATMan or BATM) major at Auburn will be a combination of science, technological systems, and business courses.

With 70 percent increase in global demand for healthy food, clean water and affordable energy in a healthy environment due to world population that is expected to reach over 9 billion by 2050, BATM graduates will be in high demand to develop, operate, support and spread technologies to support agricultural and biological systems that produce and provide these essentials of life. BATM graduates will also acquire skills that are transferable to other sectors that rely heavily on technology such as automotive and manufacturing industries.

What you’ll Study
Students will take a variety of courses in technology, science and management that will enable them to be practical problem solvers, and be able to manage and develop solutions to the technological challenges of the increasingly complex agricultural and biological systems of the 21st century.

The curriculum is also designed such that students can simultaneously obtain a minor in Agronomy and Soils, Stewardship-based Agriculture, Agribusiness, Information Systems Management, Technical and Professional Communication, Poultry Science or Business Analytics.

With a growing emphasis on preventative health care and interest in health, wellness and improved quality of life among consumers and employers, Auburn University's degree option in Nutrition and Wellness is designed to prepare students for successful career entry into the broad health and wellness professions. The major in agricultural science offers a broad base of knowledge and expertise across a variety of agricultural disciplines. The cross-disciplinary program was developed in response to a growing and more diverse agricultural industry as well as the increased need among related industries for a more broadly skilled workforce.

An agricultural science degree will prepare you for careers in such fields as agribusiness, extension, government agencies, production agriculture and commodity groups. It is also an excellent foundation for graduate studies and an ideal double-major for Auburn agriscience education students.

What you’ll Study
We call agricultural science the big-picture major because it offers a broad overview of 21st-century agriculture. As a student in the program, you’ll take courses that run the gamut from crop science, entomology and landscape gardening to agribusiness marketing, farm equipment repair and aquaculture production.

The Master of Science in CSSE provides both online and on-campus students an opportunity for advanced learning and creative research. Students will further their education through a balanced program in both instruction and research with the goal of achieving excellence in the field of computer science and software engineering. On-campus students may choose the thesis or non-thesis option. Online students can choose a non-thesis (courses only) or, with special permission from the department, the thesis option. They will be able to specialize in areas such as artificial intelligence, computer networks, cybersecurity, databases and data science, human/computer interaction and machine learning.
