Overview
Our School of Fisheries, Aquaculture & Aquatic Sciences is the one of the world’s premier warm-water fisheries programs. As a student majoring in fisheries, aquaculture and aquatic sciences, you’ll receive a strong foundation in chemistry, mathematics and biology while learning how to apply these subjects to managing fresh and saltwater aquatic resources.
This degree will equip you with an understanding of the principles used in solving problems with aquatic resources and the awareness to provide safe, reliable food through aquaculture production. Graduates of this program are also prepared for veterinary medicine and other professional and graduate schools.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology
Auburn's anthropology program features four sub-fields: sociocultural anthropology (how people in different places live and understand the world around them), archaeology (material evidence of how societies change over time), biological anthropology (human variation, evolution, and adaptation to the environment), and linguistics (relationship between language and culture). With a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology, you'll be able to apply your knowledge to global issues outside of the classroom in areas such as social and environmental policy, medical anthropology, forensic anthropology, museum studies, cultural resource management, and historic preservation. Each of the four subfields of anthropology can be applied to solve real world problems.

The department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Auburn University offers Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees in medical laboratory science, chemistry, and biochemistry. The department has 24 full-time faculty members and is conducting cutting-edge research in the areas of biological chemistry, synthesis methodology, molecular recognition and detection, new material synthesis and characterization, computational chemistry, renewable energy, as well as in the traditional areas of analytical, biological, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry. Undergraduate laboratory classes are conducted in the Sciences Center Laboratories Building.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies program will equip students with the comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to succeed in philanthropic endeavors. Master of Science in Biosystems Engineering
This degree produces graduates who are able to identify, formulate, analyze and solve complex biosystems engineering problems by using appropriate tools and techniques, including independent research, and who can effectively communicate to technical and non-technical audiences. Graduates are prepared for employment in national laboratories, industry and universities, and are able to design, develop, regulate, research and manage the systems and technologies needed to produce, transport, store and use natural resources to meet humanity’s most fundamental needs such as safe and abundant food, clean water, fiber, and renewable sources of fuel; and bio-based life-enhancing and life-saving products.

Students will develop demonstrated capabilities in core chemical engineering topics including material and energy balances, thermodynamics, chemical equilibria, heat, mass and momentum transfer, chemical reaction engineering, continuous and stagewise separation operations, process dynamics, statistics and control. The curriculum ranges from elementary design principles in material and energy balances to the capstone senior process design and process control sequence by employing advanced computer process and control simulators and experimental control systems.

Auburn offers the only accredited biosystems engineering program in Alabama, and the forest engineering option is the only one of its kind in the South.

Bachelor of Science in Global Studies in Human Sciences
The Global Studies in Human Sciences curriculum is designed to educate students on relevant global issues, the realities of globalization and how local and global issues are interconnected. Through required course work in the major and minor field, students will gain first-hand experience and be prepared for professional careers in the global studies field as it relates to human sciences.
The Global Studies in Human Sciences major draws on content relevant to human sciences (e.g., international nutrition, hunger and food insecurity, microlending and entrepreneurship, environmental sustainability, maternal and child health, education of women and girls, global markets, goods and services, humanitarian aid and social policy) as well as the faculty expertise of the Dean’s administrative team and the three departments in the College.
