Applied mathematics is a branch of mathematics that deals with mathematical methods that find use in science, engineering, business, computer science, and industry. Thus, applied mathematics is a combination of mathematical science and specialized knowledge. The term "applied mathematics" also describes the professional specialty in which mathematicians work on practical problems by formulating and studying mathematical models. In the past, practical applications have motivated the development of mathematical theories, which then became the subject of study in pure mathematics where abstract concepts are studied for their own sake. The activity of applied mathematics is thus intimately connected with research in pure mathematics.

The Nutrition Science Option provides students with a curriculum well-grounded in the basic sciences with the practical application of the principles of physiology and biochemistry to the science of nutrition. The program is designed to meet the requirements for application to professional schools such as medical, dental, physical therapy, and other paramedical programs. This option also prepares students for graduate study in nutrition and other health-related disciplines.

We live in a world of global human issues, rapidly advancing technologies, and information that changes just as fast as we can consume it. For future interior designers this means that, more than anything else, they must develop skills in critical and creative thinking. An emerging professional who can find and organize information, critically analyze aspects of a problem, and develop creative and practical solutions can excel in design-related fields.

But at the core of it all, design is still people-centered and designers must understand how to relate to people, uncover their needs, and shape the environment to enhance quality of life.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition/Dietetics consists of a 2-year pre-professional component and the 2-year Professional Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD). Graduates who successfully complete the Didactic Program in Dietetics are qualified to apply for a post-baccalaureate supervised-practice program (e.g., a dietetic internship), which is a requirement for eligibility to take the National Registration Examination for Dietitians and earn the RD/RDN credential.

The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering provides a broad-based set of skills and knowledge that serves the needs of major sectors of the modern economy including manufacturing of consumer goods, the automotive industry, the energy sector, and the defense sector.

The Master of Applied Mathematics program at Auburn University offers flexibility, expert faculty, and mentorship opportunities. In addition to building a strong foundation in a fundamental area of applied mathematics, you’ll also be able to customize your studies to best match your interests. This means you can specialize in a particular area and prepare for your career, under the mentorship of internationally recognized faculty.

Our Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre management leads to a professional career as a stage or production manager for theaters, concert venues, or theme parks. You’ll take courses in stage management, production management, and events management, as well as related courses in civic engagement, public relations, and business. There are numerous opportunities on and off-campus for hands-on experience as a house manager, production assistant, events manager, assistant stage manager, or production stage manager.

With a growing emphasis on preventative health care and interest in health, wellness and improved quality of life among consumers and employers, Auburn University's degree option in Nutrition and Wellness is designed to prepare students for successful career entry into the broad health and wellness professions. Philosophy deepens our engagement with fundamental questions that arise in everyday life with regard to ourselves, others and the world around us. Our Bachelor of Arts in philosophy exposes you to the great philosophers and philosophies of the past and the present. You’ll become adept at criticizing the view of others and your own views.

The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design is a flexible, multi-disciplinary degree. The degree content includes:

• Five core environmental design courses
• Directed electives
• Free electives

Students are encouraged to use the free electives to earn one or two minors.

Two summers of coursework are required for the environmental design workshop series. The degree is a good option for students who are interested in pursuing graduate studies in design, planning, and construction-related programs.
