The School of Accounting at FIU educates students to achieve great success in today’s accounting industry. The program provides the most current knowledge and emphasizes the skills needed for success in public, private and government sectors—and to pursue an advanced degree. The Bachelor of Accounting program curriculum includes comprehensive technical competencies, as well as important professional capabilities, including verbal and written business communication skills.

The Bachelor of Business Administration degree prepares graduates to think critically, solve problems and lead with confidence. This broad-based program teaches important business fundamentals across environments and industries both in the U.S. and globally. You'll learn how goods and services are produced, financed and marketed; the impact of external forces on business success; basics of accounting and quantitative methods, plus an introduction to organizational theory and communication and leadership decision-making.

Business Analytics
Undergraduate business students opting to pursue a BBA in Business Analytics (BA) will gain a solid foundation in the application of statistical methods, techniques, and tools to large datasets. The program provides students with the background needed to applying statistical methods and techniques through use of decision support systems (DSS), expert systems (ES), business intelligence (BI) reporting tools, and business analytics (BA) data mining tools. Graduates will be prepared for entry-level business analytics and reporting positions.

There are two tracks available in the upper division program for B.S. in Computer Science. The Computer Science (CS) track should be followed by the student who intends to continue on to graduate study in computer science. The Software Design and Development (SDD) track may be followed by the student who intends to pursue a software engineering career. This section explains the requirements for the Computer Science track.

Technology has influenced every industry as digital breakthroughs proliferate the working world. The evolution of computers has enabled most industries to increasingly rely on computing, digital information and database management as well as programming. Our undergraduate and graduate degree programs in computer science provide strong and advanced skills in computer science including computer organization and architecture, data structures and related algorithms, and programming languages plus technical skills and application of technology.

The Asian Studies B.A. enhances the mission of Florida International University to achieve excellence in diverse aspects of its international studies programming. This degree is designed for students who possess a desire for intellectual growth that focuses on their interest in Asia. It serves the urban population of Miami, which seeks employment opportunities and economic advancement through cultural and commercial connections with Asia. The study of this increasingly important world region, with an emphasis on China, Japan, India, and Central and Southeast Asia, provides a multidisciplinary approach covering the languages and culture, philosophy and religion, arts and literature, as well as issues in history, politics, geography, sociology/anthropology, international relations, education and business.

Our Bachelor of Arts in Psychology offers excellent training in how to understand human behavior using scientifically rigorous methods. The program reflects current trends in the field of psychology through its emphasis on the science of psychology, integrated via the research sequence, and through the inclusion of recent trends in psychological theory and practice, such as child psychopathology, environmental psychology and legal psychology.

The B.S. in crime science combines forensics and computer science with traditional criminology and criminal justice courses.

The degree combines the virtues of a well-rounded education with innovative ways of seeing our 21st-century world and the knowledge or applied skills needed to be productive. Training is cohesive, in-depth and targeted toward diverse future job opportunities or graduate school options.

In today’s world, smart devices communicate with each other. Smart phones, smart watches and smart homes are collectively referred to as the Internet of Things (IoT). FIU’s Bachelor of Science in IoT will transform a student into a technological expert who can manage, program, maintain and secure IoT devices in many critical areas such as energy, transportation, health, aviation, infrastructure and hospitality. This program will provide expertise in the following four pillars: hardware, software, wireless communications and cybersecurity & privacy.

The Department of Art and Art History offers a Bachelor of Arts in Art History that is designed to introduce methodologies and subjects of Art History from throughout the world. In addition to traditional European and American subjects from ancient to modern times, we offer a strong emphasis on Latin American art from Pre-Columbian to the present. The BA in Art History provides professional education as preparation for careers as art professionals and for further graduate study.

Construction management degree programs at FIU equip students with the knowledge and skills required for supervisory or managerial positions in the construction industry. Graduates usually find employment as project managers, project schedulers, cost estimators, quality controllers or in managing their own construction firms. Opportunities for employment exist in all areas of the construction industry, including land development, home building, public building, industrialized building systems, marine and highway heavy construction.
