The Department of Art and Art History offers a Bachelor of Arts in Art History that is designed to introduce methodologies and subjects of Art History from throughout the world. In addition to traditional European and American subjects from ancient to modern times, we offer a strong emphasis on Latin American art from Pre-Columbian to the present. The BA in Art History provides professional education as preparation for careers as art professionals and for further graduate study.

There are two tracks available in the upper division program for B.S. in Computer Science. The Computer Science (CS) track should be followed by the student who intends to continue on to graduate study in computer science. The Software Design and Development (SDD) track may be followed by the student who intends to pursue a software engineering career. This section explains the requirements for the Computer Science track.

Technology has influenced every industry as digital breakthroughs proliferate the working world. The evolution of computers has enabled most industries to increasingly rely on computing, digital information and database management as well as programming. In today’s world, smart devices communicate with each other. Smart phones, smart watches and smart homes are collectively referred to as the Internet of Things (IoT). FIU’s Bachelor of Science in IoT will transform a student into a technological expert who can manage, program, maintain and secure IoT devices in many critical areas such as energy, transportation, health, aviation, infrastructure and hospitality. This program will provide expertise in the following four pillars: hardware, software, wireless communications and cybersecurity & privacy.

Our Bachelor of Science in Chemistry program is certified by the American Chemical Society and prepares students for graduate study or a career as a chemist in industry, in government service or in secondary school teaching.

The Bachelor of Business Administration degree prepares graduates to think critically, solve problems and lead with confidence. This broad-based program teaches important business fundamentals across environments and industries both in the U.S. and globally. You'll learn how goods and services are produced, financed and marketed; the impact of external forces on business success; basics of accounting and quantitative methods, plus an introduction to organizational theory and communication and leadership decision-making.

Business Administration in Real Estate

A real estate degree from the College of Business will prepare you to make decisions in the real estate and real estate finance industries. Explore the financial aspects of all real estate transactions, from residential to commercial to international, and learn about property management and real estate development.

Graduates are able to understand the functions of real estate markets, practices, and institutions, understand the nature of the legal environment of real estate, appraise the real estate development opportunities in the commercial real estate markets for residential, warehouse, retail, and industrial properties, and solve specific problems or issues related to the analysis of real estate financing alternatives.

There’s never been a greater need for professionals with the knowledge to navigate the continually changing landscape of digital information. Our information technology undergraduate and graduate degree programs prepare graduates to excel in a world increasingly focused on information technology. The students advance their knowledge and earn one of the most in-demand degrees with a curriculum that includes courses in programming, software development, information systems, database development, computer networking, operating systems and more.

Geared to train students for jobs in areas such as data security, systems security management and network threat analysis, FIU’s cybersecurity degree programs prepare students to work on solutions to high- tech 21st century problems, such as how to safeguard devices, software and data from cyber threats as well as protect power grids from hackers.

Students will learn how money is raised and invested, how to manage a company's financial resources, and gain an understanding of capital markets, corporate finance, investments and financial institutions. You’ll acquire the background to handle an array of financial challenges including the impact of interest rates, be able to perform risk analyses, know how to determine the value and return of investments, and grasp the regulatory environment. Students who graduate with the finance major are prepared to enter positions in corporations, financial institutions, brokerage firms, investment banks, and government. They also are prepared for post-graduate study in all areas of business.
