Performance
A concentration in theatre performance prepares you to enter a graduate program or pursue a professional career in theatre, film, television, and related fields. Aspiring actors immerse themselves in a variety of performance disciplines including in-depth, sequential training in stage movement/physical theatre, voice, and acting.

Environmental engineering at LSU will provide you with a unique learning opportunity. Due to Louisiana’s economic activity from the Mississippi River, our unique coast and soil, the array of industry present here, and environmental challenges, such as hurricanes and storm surges, you will have a canvas like no other to research and practice. Environmental engineers are not only concerned with local and regional issues, but work on problems of global significance, including the world water and sanitation crisis, the impacts of population growth, and climate change. They are responsible for municipal water supply and wastewater treatment in urban and rural areas. Environmental engineers also work to reduce risk from hazardous materials in the environment by designing safe disposal and remediation methods for contaminated soil, sediment, and water. Specialization tracks include sustainability, coastal engineering, and a “flex” track, which allows students to tailor their focus to meet individual career goals. Graduates pursue careers in governmental organizations, nonprofits, and industry, or they may serve as external consultants for any of these entities.

Interior designers create functional and visually appealing indoor environments. They shape, organize, furnish, and adorn the insides of buildings to reflect our personal and cultural aspirations. Today’s interior designers do not simply decorate. They work on wide range of interiors, from residential to corporate projects, designing spaces within new buildings and finding ways to adapt and re-use existing structures. If this sounds like your idea of heaven, then interior design may be for you.

Study ways to improve crops and discover new crossbreeds of plants, and learn the latest approaches to the cultivation, marketing, and processing of ornamental plants, fruits, and vegetables. Topics include soil science and conservation, ornamentals and grasses, urban landscape management, sustainable horticulture, and much more.

Horticulture Science: Horticulture is the science and art of cultivation, propagation, marketing, and processing of ornamental plants, flowers, vegetables, fruits, and nuts. Horticulture is unique among plant sciences because it also incorporates art and the principles of design. With opportunities such as internships, hands-on learning, and faculty-led research, you will gain valuable experiences both inside and outside of the classroom.

Find great adventure in anthropology at LSU. Areas of study include archaeology, cultural anthropology, folklore, physical anthropology, and anthropological linguistics. You can participate firsthand in meaningful research, ranging from studies of contemporary communities to archaeological digs, that can have a real impact on the world.

Agricultural & Extension Education
This broad-based curriculum encompasses all areas of agriculture and offers you unique opportunities for professional and leadership development, hands-on learning across the state, and participation in faculty-led research. Available concentrations will prepare you for teaching in secondary schools or for careers in extension, business, government, or industry.

Teaching in Formal Education
Develop your agricultural knowledge and skills through teaching; supervise agriculture experiences, teach students in both formal and informal settings, and advise FFA and other agriculture organization chapters.

This curriculum is diverse with opportunities to study forest management of hardwood and pine forests, wetlands, wildlife, conservation biology, fisheries, aquaculture, habitat management, or prepare for a career as a wildlife-oriented veterinarian. Curricula emphasizes field instruction. Unique facilities available through this curriculum include the School of Renewable Natural Resources’ Lee Memorial Forest, an actively managed forest, which has accommodations and teaching facilities so that you can get hands-on experience in the field.

Wildlife Ecology: With this concentration, you will study a broader range of wildlife than other specializations, including recreationally and culturally important game species and ecologically important non-game species. Most students in this area intend to pursue advanced degrees.

Industrial engineers are engineers with a business flair who enjoy working with people. They apply engineering design to create and improve systems that deliver products or services. They strive to improve the productivity of their organizations and respond to changing customer needs and wants quickly and constantly. For instance, an industrial engineer may be involved in designing a new production plant for a car manufacturer (a product) or in designing an effective emergency room for a hospital (a service). In designing these systems, an industrial engineer integrates equipment, materials, energy, information, and people together to meet business objectives while ensuring product/service quality and reliability, the safety and satisfaction of customers and employees, and the effective and productive use of resources.

The versatility of industrial engineers allows them to engage in activities that are useful to a variety of businesses, governments, and nonprofits. For example, industrial engineers engage in supply chain management to help businesses minimize inventory costs, conduct quality assurance activities to help businesses keep their customer bases satisfied, and work in the growing field of project management as industries across the economy seek to control costs and maximize efficiencies. With skills that can be applied to almost any industry, industrial engineers can work in almost any field and at any type of organization/company.
