This major emphasizes a hands-on approach to understanding human behavior and offers exceptional preparation for graduate study in psychology or medical school. You can develop the skills you need in areas such as biological, clinical, cognitive, and school psychology. The department also has an extremely active honors program through which you can work with faculty mentors on meaningful research.

This curriculum is diverse with opportunities to study forest management of hardwood and pine forests, wetlands, wildlife, conservation biology, fisheries, aquaculture, habitat management, or prepare for a career as a wildlife-oriented veterinarian. Curricula emphasizes field instruction. Unique facilities available through this curriculum include the School of Renewable Natural Resources’ Lee Memorial Forest, an actively managed forest, which has accommodations and teaching facilities so that you can get hands-on experience in the field.

Forest Resource Management: Prepare for the diverse challenges of managing forested landscapes for various sustainable uses. This area of concentration is specifically designed to assist you in becoming a Certified Forester.

LSU has the only program in Louisiana that will prepare you for a career in international business. The international trade and finance degree is an economics degree with a concentration in international business. Want to work for an international company? Consider also minoring in a foreign language.

Learn how raw products move from farm to table, including all of the functions of agricultural business. This major will allow you to focus on management, marketing, finance, and economics, while addressing questions and concerns involving the economics and sociology of agriculture, natural resources, and rural communities.

Through the textiles, apparel, and merchandising curriculum, you can work toward your dream by taking advantage of its unique learning opportunities to gain technical and creative knowledge. Refine your critical thinking skills, gain expertise in the area of product development, and learn how to market your final product to consumers in a global marketplace. Learn about the art and science of textile production and development, including materials, processes, and technologies involved in today’s industry.

Merchandising: Learn about apparel economics, marketing, and the industry psychology of the fashion world.

From companion animals to livestock, study all aspects of the animal industries, including production, processing, and nutrition, as well as care of companion animals and preparation for veterinary school. Pre-veterinary Medicine: Through a partnership with the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, students majoring in animal, dairy, and poultry sciences or natural resource ecology and management have the opportunity to participate in the 3+1 program. This allows you to use your first year of veterinary school credits toward your final year in the College of Agriculture, giving you the opportunity to earn both a BS and DVM degree in seven years.

Management will help you explore the many facets of organizational behavior, industrial and labor relations, as well as an appreciation and understanding of global management practices, among others. You can pursue these areas further through the human resource management concentration, international management concentration, or strategic leadership concentration.

In sociology, you will discover and explain patterns of human behavior. You will learn how society functions and how you function within society. You may also elect to follow the department’s concentration in criminology.
