In this program, you can expect to gain a wide-ranging view of world issues while focusing on a particular geographic region or areas such as global diplomacy. In international studies, you will also have opportunities to participate in study abroad programs and develop in-depth knowledge of the languages and cultures of your chosen area.

• Global Studies: The concentration in global studies is a very broad concentration covering any topics which fall across multiple regions of the world. Much of international relations, global climate concerns, third world development, world population and globalization fit under this concentration.

If you enjoy bringing life to a creative thought, you may find your niche in studio art. Choose a focus in two- or three-dimensional art, such as ceramics and sculpture, painting and drawing, photography, or printmaking. Become familiar with a number of art techniques and the major achievements in the history of art. Gain an understanding of contemporary thinking about art and design, and learn to make valid assessments of quality in design projects and works of art. Studio artists are creative problem solvers who enjoy experimentation, are self-disciplined, and visually aware.

Graphic Design: Wherever words and images are used to present information and attract attention, graphic design comes into play. Today’s designers are challenged to be masters of a complex cluster of aesthetic, conceptual, technological, social, strategic, and presentation skills. The graphic design curriculum will prepare you to meet these challenges by helping you develop your skills in typography, print and editorial design, information design, digital imaging and motion graphics, packaging, environmental design, identity design, and branding.

Whether it’s discovering a new particle or blasting a rocket into space, physics is at the root of everything. Here you will learn about energy and matter, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, the birth of the universe, and Einstein’s special theory of relativity. Our program will prepare you for graduate school in physics, leading to careers as a college professor, as a scientist at a government agency (like NASA), or in high-tech industry.

You will feel right at home as a geography major. Take advantage of the special emphases in Latin American and East Asian geography. Get heavily involved in hands-on research projects and the student-run Geography and Anthropology Society.

The Bachelor of Social Work program will prepare you to engage in a practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. Graduates are qualified for entry-level positions in government, nonprofit, and for-profit social service agencies in fields such as schools, corrections, child welfare, hospitals, and the military to name a few. The LSU BSW program is currently in candidacy with the Council on Social Work Education. Once the program is fully accredited, students with a BSW may be eligible to enter a one-year Advanced Standing MSW program.

Interior designers create functional and visually appealing indoor environments. They shape, organize, furnish, and adorn the insides of buildings to reflect our personal and cultural aspirations. Today’s interior designers do not simply decorate. They work on wide range of interiors, from residential to corporate projects, designing spaces within new buildings and finding ways to adapt and re-use existing structures. If this sounds like your idea of heaven, then interior design may be for you.

Accounting defines transactions so they can be used to describe business activities. Learning the language allows you to communicate and understand the financial operations of any and all types of organizations. You also have the opportunity to earn a graduate degree while completing the required hours to be eligible for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.
