Those choosing post-graduate study are ready for pre-med, pre-law, pre-dental, pre-vet, pre-Masters of Public Health, and pre-disciplinary graduate study. Those entering the workforce have many career options. If you have a demonstrated strength in science, math, complex problem-solving, and enjoy field work, then this is the degree path for you.

Electrical engineers are primarily concerned with the generation, control, transmission, and distribution of electric energy, signals, and information. This may be on a large scale, such as designing a more reliable power grid, or a small scale, such as developing components for a new medical device or cell phone. Graduates could design power systems in Baton Rouge, work on flight control systems in San Diego, help maintain an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico, or work at a software company in Silicon Valley.

LSU has the only program in Louisiana that will prepare you for a career in international business. The international trade and finance degree is an economics degree with a concentration in international business. Want to work for an international company? Consider also minoring in a foreign language.

Empirical Economic Analysis
Learn the skills you need to analyze business and economic data to solve real-world problems.

Find great adventure in anthropology at LSU. Areas of study include archaeology, cultural anthropology, folklore, physical anthropology, and anthropological linguistics. You can participate firsthand in meaningful research, ranging from studies of contemporary communities to archaeological digs, that can have a real impact on the world.

This curriculum is diverse with opportunities to study forest management of hardwood and pine forests, wetlands, wildlife, conservation biology, fisheries, aquaculture, habitat management, or prepare for a career as a wildlife-oriented veterinarian. Curricula emphasizes field instruction. Unique facilities available through this curriculum include the School of Renewable Natural Resources’ Lee Memorial Forest, an actively managed forest, which has accommodations and teaching facilities so that you can get hands-on experience in the field.

Wetland Science: Choose this concentration if you would like to specialize in wetlands, which are valued as wildlife and fish habitat, for maintaining water quality, and for economic benefits.

If you enjoy bringing life to a creative thought, you may find your niche in studio art. Choose a focus in two- or three-dimensional art, such as ceramics and sculpture, painting and drawing, photography, or printmaking. Become familiar with a number of art techniques and the major achievements in the history of art. Gain an understanding of contemporary thinking about art and design, and learn to make valid assessments of quality in design projects and works of art. Studio artists are creative problem solvers who enjoy experimentation, are self-disciplined, and visually aware.

Religious Studies
Learn how religion has evolved through history and how it has stayed the same. With studies in history, philosophy, politics, and more, you will bring an uncommonly sophisticated knowledge of society to whatever you choose to do after you graduate.

This program will provide you with the knowledge and skills to participate in the environmental community in areas such as federal and local environmental regulations, land use planning, soil and water conservation, coastal restoration, and agricultural management.

Environmental Analysis and Risk Management: Gain knowledge and practical understanding of chemistry, microbiology, land use planning, site investigation techniques, risk assessment, and federal and local environmental regulation.

Learn about the properties and composition of matter and the interactions and alterations of substances. Chemistry is at the core of most scientific disciplines, including the study of polymers, biotechnology, pollution control, and energy. There are nine available concentrations, which will allow you to narrow your focus to the career track that works best for you or help you prepare for graduate study. 

Biological Chemistry
This concentration strengthens the student’s knowledge in the chemistry and structure of living systems.

Mechanical engineers apply principles of engineering, mathematics, physics, and materials science for the analysis, design, manufacture, operation, and maintenance of equipment and machinery. They also work on all forms of energy production, exchange, and conversion for a wide variety of applications. As an LSU Mechanical Engineer, you will learn to emphasize physical realization of prototypes, develop skills for communicating tech­nical content effectively, and engage your professional community through industry-sponsored projects. Mechanical engineers are versatile and work in industries such as automotive, air and space, and petrochemical, to name a few. Careers include heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) engineer; automotive designer; manufacturing engineer; reliability and maintenance engineer; production supervisor; and more.
