At Roosevelt economics goes beyond the curriculum that is currently being taught at universities around the world. Roosevelt is one of the few universities in the United States where students can study economics from green, institutionalist, Post Keynesian, anarchistic, rhetorical, Marxist and other points of view, while gaining technical proficiency in conventional Neoclassical and Keynesian methods. Our faculty are drawn to the study of economics by a commitment to social justice. Economics students are prepared to be socially conscious citizens and leaders in their professions, whether in business, public service, research, teaching or other careers.

Government is the largest single employer in the Chicago metropolitan area, several health care organizations are among the top 25 area employers, and the nonprofit sector is growing more rapidly than ever. Be a leader in this rich practice of public service.

This degree teaches students to use technology to gather, analyze and interpret data, facilitating decision-making. Students will learn methods, tools and algorithms used in modern data analysis and analytics.

Roosevelt University is proud to offer one of the only social justice studies majors in the country. This interdisciplinary major, housed in the Department of Economics, provides practical and theoretical tools from the fields of economics, history, political science, and sociology to examine theories of and movements for social justice, particularly economic justice. Recent graduates work in government, non-for-profit organizations, and the private sector. Others have gone on to graduate school. Extensive training in writing, research and critical thinking prepare students well for any post-graduate path they choose to take.

The Bachelor of Musical Arts degree is an interdisciplinary program with intentional curricular flexibility. It is designed for the student with a strong academic background who wishes to combine the study of music with an emphasis in a second field outside music. Students' programs are individualized according to their interests and culminate in a senior project that melds their work in music with their second discipline.

The BA in Education and Youth Studies prepares undergraduates to support the learning and socio-emotional needs of school-age youth (five through sixteen) and their families in roles that do not require teacher licensure, such as teaching assistant, coordinator of tutoring, and student support specialist. This field-based program prepares every candidate to work democratically with diverse children and families, including those with special needs and second language backgrounds. It leads to employment credentials that are recognized by schools and non-profit community organizations, and is excellent preparation for careers in counseling, human services and non-profit public administration.

The BA in Elementary Education (ELED) prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of children from 1st through 6th grades. This intensive, field-based program prepares every candidate to work democratically with diverse children and families, including those with special needs and second language backgrounds. It provides opportunities to earn a combination of Illinois teaching credentials.

The BSBA in Management prepares students to become managers in a wide variety of settings. There are many types of management positions in small, medium or large organizations within industry, government or service fields. The management major at Roosevelt University prepares you to succeed in these various settings whether it be your own start-up business, a small or large organization, or a non-profit. In all of our course work, we teach you about management from both practical and ethical standpoints. Your course work will include studies in finance, accounting, human resources, marketing, business law and information systems, as well as more specific management areas such as operations management, social entrepreneurship and organizational behavior.
