The BA in Education and Youth Studies prepares undergraduates to support the learning and socio-emotional needs of school-age youth (five through sixteen) and their families in roles that do not require teacher licensure, such as teaching assistant, coordinator of tutoring, and student support specialist. This field-based program prepares every candidate to work democratically with diverse children and families, including those with special needs and second language backgrounds. It leads to employment credentials that are recognized by schools and non-profit community organizations, and is excellent preparation for careers in counseling, human services and non-profit public administration.

The study of history is critical to the creation of a just society. Like Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, for whom our University is named, our history master’s program encourages students to take this ethos and put it to work as teachers and experts across a variety of fields. Students in the MA program have the option to earn an additional certificate at a partner institution for work in archives or other institutions devoted to preservation of historical resources.

The BSBA in Real Estate provides students with 18 semester hours of core content and three semester hours of electives tailored to deliver comprehensive knowledge of the real estate industry and urban land economics.

Students will use industry-standard computer programs and databases to solve problems related to the built environment. Students will incorporate the concepts of social costs and benefits in analyzing the ongoing process of urban gentrification, and not just the individual financial benefits associated with change in the urban landscape. The Real Estate BSBA program places emphasis on awareness of social justice and engagement in civic life, which are pillars of Roosevelt’s mission.

The Music Composition program challenges individual composers to hone their creative skills. Students will cultivate the ability to use all of the building blocks of music to create a diverse portfolio of original works, gain necessary professional skills, and explore a wide variety of musical styles as they develop their unique voices.

The Master of Arts in Instructional Leadership (ILED) prepares licensed teachers to become effective and democratic instructional leaders in diverse school environments. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible to add either the principal or teacher leader endorsement to their Illinois teaching licenses.

Mathematics is a beautiful and interesting subject that will help you gain analytical and problem-solving skills. Mathematicians are problem solvers that combine a deep knowledge of statistics, numbers, functions, shapes, structures and their interconnections to solve real world problems. Mathematics opens the doors to many promising career paths. A study by PayScale shows that the top 15 highest-earning college degrees have a common element: mathematics. Popular mathematics careers include teaching, data analyst, quantitative analyst, computer science, data science, operations research, biomathematics, cryptography, and finance.

The Orchestral Studies program prepares students majoring in a woodwind, brass, or string instrument, harp or percussion for a career as orchestral musicians.

The Bachelor of Science in Biology prepares students for jobs in the biotechnology industry, including pharmaceutical companies, university research laboratories, medical research centers, forensic laboratories, museums and government agencies such as the EPA, OSHA, FDA, IDNR, and the Department of Agriculture. It also prepares students to teach biology at the secondary level, with additional course work from the College of Education, and for admission to graduate health professional programs such as medical, dental, veterinary and optometry schools; physician assistant, physical therapy, and nurse practitioner training; and graduate programs in the life sciences.

The MA in Middle School Education prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of children in middle school classrooms. This intensive, field-based program prepares candidates to work democratically with diverse children and families, including those with special needs and second language backgrounds. It leads to Illinois teaching credentials in the areas of English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.
