The BSBA in Real Estate provides students with 18 semester hours of core content and three semester hours of electives tailored to deliver comprehensive knowledge of the real estate industry and urban land economics.

Students will use industry-standard computer programs and databases to solve problems related to the built environment. Students will incorporate the concepts of social costs and benefits in analyzing the ongoing process of urban gentrification, and not just the individual financial benefits associated with change in the urban landscape. The Real Estate BSBA program places emphasis on awareness of social justice and engagement in civic life, which are pillars of Roosevelt’s mission.

International studies is a growing interdisciplinary field that offers students the opportunity to study politics, economics, history, sociology, anthropology and communication as parts of a complex and evolving global system. Rather than focusing just on relations between states in the international system, the international studies major affords students the opportunity to create a focus on particular geographic areas of the world, the evolution of the international system itself, or on global race, gender and activism.

The BA in Early Childhood Education (ECHD) prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of children from birth to third grade. This intensive, field-based program prepares every candidate to work democratically with diverse children and families, including those with special needs and second language backgrounds. It leads to a combination of Illinois teaching credentials.

This program has been designed to offer students the opportunity to major in both traditional and emerging financial fields. Course offerings give students a broad exposure to contemporary issues in the financial world. Courses in finance have been designed to meet the following objectives:

• Teach the concepts and skills necessary to provide funds for a business and to control, plan and evaluate the flow of funds through the enterprise
• Provide advanced education in business finance to those seeking employment in corporate finance, banking, securities exchanges and personal financial planning

As the world becomes more reliant on internet-based technologies, there is high demand for professionals trained in information security. Roosevelt’s Bachelor of Science in Cyber and Information Security program is designated a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The Master of Arts in Instructional Leadership (ILED) prepares licensed teachers to become effective and democratic instructional leaders in diverse school environments. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible to add either the principal or teacher leader endorsement to their Illinois teaching licenses.

The MA in Middle School Education prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of children in middle school classrooms. This intensive, field-based program prepares candidates to work democratically with diverse children and families, including those with special needs and second language backgrounds. It leads to Illinois teaching credentials in the areas of English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.

Actuarial science applies probability theory and risk management to the areas of life and health insurance, property and casualty insurance, pension plans, and other employee benefit plans. Risk analysts and actuaries, who evaluate the long-term financial impact of these plans on both the issuing company and the purchaser or beneficiary of the plan, are employed by insurance companies, consulting firms, large corporations and governmental agencies. The major in actuarial science emphasizes the mathematical theory that underlies risk evaluation.
