The BA in Special Education (SPED) prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of children and adolescents with learning and intellectual disabilities, severe emotional and behavior disorders, and other disabilities. The MA in Middle School Education prepares teacher candidates to address the learning and socio-emotional needs of children in middle school classrooms. This intensive, field-based program prepares candidates to work democratically with diverse children and families, including those with special needs and second language backgrounds. It leads to Illinois teaching credentials in the areas of English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies.

Marketing Communications is the term for the broad field that includes social and digital marketing, advertising, public relations, promotional marketing, and numerous other forms of persuasive communications activities. Students majoring in the Digital Marketing, Advertising, and Public Relations degree are prepared for entry-level work in any area of this broad field. Through course work and a required professional internship in the field, students are prepared for entry-level work in any area of this broad field, including agencies, organizations and companies in advertising, public relations and marketing.

Nuclear medicine technologists are involved in direct patient care. Nuclear medicine provides unique information about the structure and function of virtually every major organ system within the body. It is the ability to characterize and quantify physiologic function at the molecular level that separates nuclear medicine from other imaging modalities. Nuclear medical technologists work with physicians to administer radioactive nuclides for the diagnosis of disease and to provide therapy. Most nuclear medicine technologists work in hospitals. This is a 3+1 program in which the first three years of course work are completed at Roosevelt University with the final year completed at the clinical affiliate site.

The Bachelor of Arts in Biology is an option for students who want an in-depth humanistic education in biology without completing all of the science and mathematics courses required for the BS in Biology. The biology BA allows students the flexibility to fashion a customized undergraduate experience; for example, completing a double-major or multiple minors.

Actuarial science applies probability theory and risk management to the areas of life and health insurance, property and casualty insurance, pension plans, and other employee benefit plans. Risk analysts and actuaries, who evaluate the long-term financial impact of these plans on both the issuing company and the purchaser or beneficiary of the plan, are employed by insurance companies, consulting firms, large corporations and governmental agencies. The major in actuarial science emphasizes the mathematical theory that underlies risk evaluation.

As the world becomes more reliant on internet-based technologies, there is high demand for professionals trained in information security. Roosevelt’s Bachelor of Science in Cyber and Information Security program is designated a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
