Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in Art – History offers undergraduate students specific knowledge about art and architecture from prehistory to the present. The curriculum provides a foundation for the understanding of art, in all of its various forms, and encourages the development of visual literacy. Contextual, as well as stylistic approaches, provide exposure to different methodologies involved in the study of visual material. A broad range of courses foster critical thinking, multicultural awareness, and provide art historical skills that lead to an understanding of image making and the power and function of images.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

The Art, BA program at UCF inspires creativity while also teaching you the foundational elements of art, history and design. We recognize that inspiration and creation are central to what artists do, which is why we provide technical knowledge and hands-on experiences to help you succeed. Plus, with three tracks available, you can choose a path that best fits your interests both personally and professionally.
Throughout your coursework, you’ll be challenged to explore how you think about art but also how you see the world around you. Undergraduate Extended Accelerator Pathway (3-Term) - Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering - Digital VLSI Circuits Track
As a computer engineering major, you’ll explore ways to improve the underlying digital hardware, computing networks, and production software systems that impact our everyday lives. Your work will help advance our society, covering areas such as computer systems design, mobile and embedded computing devices, sensor networks, reconfigurable logic, software engineering and machine intelligence applications.
Computer engineering coursework focuses on the tradeoff of execution throughput compared to hardware/software/energy costs of all types of computers from portable embedded devices and miniature sensor nodes, up through supercomputers. You’ll learn from renowned faculty that have been engaged in cutting-edge research and have an opportunity to pursue undergraduate research in your area of interest with these faculty. Additionally, courses provide hands-on learning where you can apply what you’ve learned to real-world situations.
Digital VLSI Circuits Track
Choose from a wide range of technical elective courses such as embedded systems and hardware-software co-design, microarchitecture and memory design for performance, VLSI testing and fault tolerant computing, design of ultra-low power circuits and systems and the mechanisms for computing systems, and data acquisition. You’ll graduate with more depth of knowledge in the area of VLSI systems and digital circuit design. After graduation, pursue a graduate degree or find employment in companies such as Lockheed-Martin, Intel, TI, Apple, as well as many other regional, national or international companies. Also, opportunities exist for employment in state and federal government agencies.

Undergraduate Extended Accelerator Pathway (3-Term) - Bachelor of Design in Architecture
The Bachelor of Design in Architecture was created to meet the local need in Central Florida for an architecture program. The Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) degree program is a partnership with Valencia College and the University of Florida, as part of a 2+2+2 program to enable students to complete an NAAB accredited architectural program in Central Florida. Note: Architecture (B.Des.) majors must have continual access to a computer. Contact the Architecture advising office (407-582-5500) for the minimum hardware and software specifications.

Undergraduate Extended Accelerator Pathway (3-Term) - Bachelor of Science in Biology - Ecology, Evolutionary and Conservation
The Ecology, Evolutionary and Conservation Biology (EECB) track is designed for students to learn about biological systems ranging from the smaller scale processes that occur within cells up to, and including, larger scale processes that result in the diversity and dynamics of ecological communities. This track emphasizes courses in genetics, taxonomic diversity, structural biology, ecology, evolution, and physiology. Courses such as Conservation Biology, Population Genetics, Biogeography, and Evolutionary Biology introduce students to a solid understanding of the natural world. Other courses such as Disease Ecology & Eco-immunology, specialized lab courses and experiential learning opportunities broaden the experience that students receive. This track allows for significant opportunities for independent research working with professors and their graduate students in both laboratory and field settings. The EECB track prepares students for graduate study at any major university or immediate employment with local, state and federal agencies, with the private sector (e.g., environmental assessment firms), and/or privately-funded environmental and conservation organizations.

Within the rapid advance in nanoscience, with continuous breakthroughs leading to exciting applications in current and new emerging technologies, and the high degree of industrial innovation in Central Florida, UCF has an important role to play in the education of knowledge workers for an industry that is becoming more and more sophisticated. While UCF provides several opportunities for the graduate population to pursue training in nanoscience.
The overall goal is for the students to acquire a working knowledge of nanoscience principles and industrial applications, and to understand the societal and technology issues that may impede the adoption of nanotechnology. In addition, students are expected to develop the ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and identify paths and requisite knowledge and skills for nanotechnology careers.

Undergraduate Extended Accelerator Pathway (3-Term) - Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies – Diversity Studies
The Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies – Diversity Studies Track is a broadly based interdisciplinary curriculum. The degree's interdisciplinary nature provides students with tools that can be applied across a spectrum of science, social behavior, and humanities, while foregrounding the importance of analyses with a focus on diversity and inclusion in such categories as race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, and ability. Students pursuing a career in social justice or advocacy work, involvement in international nonprofit organizations or diverse research and journalistic careers, as well as those seeking preparation for graduate study in related areas will enjoy the flexibility of this program. This track requires students to take two unique IDS Core courses, 30 credit hours of courses related to theory and representations/experiences of diversity, and select from a number of related minors such as the Women's and Gender Studies or Diversity and Social Inequality.
