The Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies – Diversity Studies Track is a broadly based interdisciplinary curriculum. The degree's interdisciplinary nature provides students with tools that can be applied across a spectrum of science, social behavior, and humanities, while foregrounding the importance of analyses with a focus on diversity and inclusion in such categories as race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, and ability. Students pursuing a career in social justice or advocacy work, involvement in international nonprofit organizations or diverse research and journalistic careers, as well as those seeking preparation for graduate study in related areas will enjoy the flexibility of this program. This track requires students to take two unique IDS Core courses, 30 credit hours of courses related to theory and representations/experiences of diversity, and select from a number of related minors such as the Women's and Gender Studies or Diversity and Social Inequality.

Power and Renewable Energy Track
Gain an in-depth understanding of power system operation and control, renewable energy integration, machines, microgrid design and operation, power markets and data analytics. In this track, you’ll have an opportunity for hands-on training in smart grid technologies. Choose from a diverse range of technical electives that cover the areas of power and renewable energy.

The B.S. in Early Childhood Development and Education program at UCF prepares you to impact a diverse population of young children and families using research-based, developmentally appropriate practices. Your coursework will provide you with the knowledge and skills in many areas, including child development, social and emotional development, assessment and literacy. Further, due to the interdisciplinary nature of materials science and engineering, students are encouraged to expand their knowledge across multiple disciplines through the several innovative curriculum and interdisciplinary research facilities and research centers at UCF. These include the Advanced Materials Processing and Analysis Center, the Nanoscience Technology Center, the Florida Solar Energy Center and the Center for Research and Education in Optics and Lasers. This approach provides a distinct advantage to UCF undergraduates in that they not only understand materials-specific challenges but also have an overall understanding of engineered systems for many applications.

The Bachelor of Science in Photonic Science and Engineering degree is designed to prepare the next generation of engineers for the growing optics and photonics industry, which has a broad set of applications including manufacturing, healthcare, telecommunication, defense, security, and entertainment. The program draws on UCF's internationally recognized strengths in the field of optics and lasers and is matched to the strong photonics industry in Central Florida. The degree is offered jointly by the College of Optics and Photonics and the College of Engineering & Computer Science.

The College of Sciences, UCF’s largest college, builds the foundations needed for critical thinking as well as career success in programs ranging from communication and journalism to the physical, biological, social, behavioral and computational sciences. You’ll learn inside and outside of the classroom and lab by participating in internships, research and field work on the Florida coast, Bolivia, Peru, Egypt and beyond.  

The Biotechnology B.S. produces highly trained workers that will meet the workforce needs of the biotechnology industry. Students seeking admission to professional schools (medical, dental, optometry, veterinary, podiatry, and pharmacy) will meet most of the admission requirements for those programs while obtaining a Biotechnology B.S. degree.
