Computational physics (CP) is an approach to physics that uses computers to solve problems where a precise theory exists but the resulting equations are intractable to traditional analytical approaches. This area is relatively new in physics, but continues to grow in relevance especially as computational power and algorithms evolve. Computational approaches are applied to a wide range of areas, including condensed matter, surface physics, materials physics, soft-condensed matter, and biological physics.

As a computer engineering major, you’ll explore ways to improve the underlying digital hardware, computing networks, and production software systems that impact our everyday lives. Your work will help advance our society, covering areas such as computer systems design, mobile and embedded computing devices, sensor networks, reconfigurable logic, software engineering and machine intelligence applications.

Computer engineering coursework focuses on the tradeoff of execution throughput compared to hardware/software/energy costs of all types of computers from portable embedded devices and miniature sensor nodes, up through supercomputers. You’ll learn from renowned faculty that have been engaged in cutting-edge research and have an opportunity to pursue undergraduate research in your area of interest with these faculty. Additionally, courses provide hands-on learning where you can apply what you’ve learned to real-world situations.

The College of Sciences, UCF’s largest college, builds the foundations needed for critical thinking as well as career success in programs ranging from communication and journalism to the physical, biological, social, behavioral and computational sciences. Students majoring in the Social Sciences Interdisciplinary B.S. program are provided with interdisciplinary breadth and depth in the Social Sciences as they fulfill the requirements of three separate social science minors of their choice, a statistics course, and a methodology course. The Social Science minors are housed in Anthropology, Communication, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Women's and Gender Studies. This major supports UCF's goal of offering the best undergraduate education available in Florida with flexibility that is absent in most discipline-specific programs.

The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders houses the Communication Disorders Clinic, located in Research Park. The clinic provides services for individuals with communication impairments in Central Florida, while also giving students hands-on experience in the field.

The B.S. in Elementary Education program at UCF prepares you to become an elementary classroom teacher. You’ll gain a number of hands-on skills, developing pedagogy and content knowledge needed to meet the needs of K-6 students. Coursework covers various elementary subject areas, including reading, language arts, mathematics, social studies and science. It also provides you with first-hand experience in teaching learners with varying abilities, including students with disabilities and English learners. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to work with the latest technologies that are used in teaching and learning environments.

he Legal Studies program provides students with a broad understanding of basic principles of the law and the role and function of the legal system. In addition to preparing students for law-related careers, the program provides a solid foundation for law school. While no specific major is required for admission to law school, a degree in Legal Studies presents students with an unparalleled opportunity for law school preparation. All Legal Studies faculty are graduates of ABA-approved law schools, and practice/have practiced law.

Legal Studies students are encouraged to work closely with their program advisor in planning degree completion and career goals. Satisfactory completion of program requirements leads to the degree of Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Legal Studies. The B.A. requires two semesters of college-level foreign language; the B.S. requires two years of high school foreign language.

The Anthropology major results in broad holistic understanding of humans and the human condition, both past and present. Students study all subfields of Anthropology: Archaeology, Cultural Anthropology, Linguistics, and Physical Anthropology.
