Overview
As a computer engineering major, you’ll explore ways to improve the underlying digital hardware, computing networks, and production software systems that impact our everyday lives. Your work will help advance our society, covering areas such as computer systems design, mobile and embedded computing devices, sensor networks, reconfigurable logic, software engineering and machine intelligence applications.
Computer engineering coursework focuses on the tradeoff of execution throughput compared to hardware/software/energy costs of all types of computers from portable embedded devices and miniature sensor nodes, up through supercomputers. You’ll learn from renowned faculty that have been engaged in cutting-edge research and have an opportunity to pursue undergraduate research in your area of interest with these faculty. Additionally, courses provide hands-on learning where you can apply what you’ve learned to real-world situations.
Comprehensive Track
Cover fundamental computer engineering concepts. You’ll be exposed to key areas in the discipline, including embedded processing, operating systems, object oriented programming, computer networks, FPGA Design, computer organization and architecture, etc. The technical electives can be selected to provide more depth in one or more areas of computer engineering. Graduates find employment in companies such as Lockheed-Martin, Siemens, Microsoft, Google, Intel, Apple, TI, as well as many other regional, national, or international companies. Also, opportunities exist for employment in state and federal government agencies.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

The Plant Science Track is designed to give students a diverse understanding of the plant world and their impact on human lives and environment. Plant Kingdom, Plant Anatomy, Plant Physiology and Plant Taxonomy courses will position students to find jobs in biotechnology labs, state parks and as field technicians as well as teaching in high schools or obtaining internships in other botanical institutions. Culinary Botany focuses on health and nutrition derived from plants and Medical Botany prepares students towards a career in naturopathy, allopathy and Pharmacy programs.

The Latin American Studies, B.A. is an interdisciplinary program including the fields of anthropology, art, English, history, language and literature, music, and political science. The program provides students with the necessary tools and relevant knowledge to understand, study, and work with Hispanic populations.
Students gain a broad and thorough understanding of the Americas in terms of their historical, cultural, social, economic, and political dimensions. They also develop a basic proficiency in Spanish, develop critical thinking skills, and enhance multidisciplinary awareness and competence regarding the terminology and methods of various disciplines within the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

The Bachelor of Arts in Music degree at UCF provides you with a convivial, supportive atmosphere of mutual respect, high standards academically and ethically, and faculty that are devoted to your learning and success. The program’s liberal arts emphasis also provides a flexible curriculum, allowing you to explore a diverse range of interests through elective courses. Some electives focus on music, while others are non-music courses that complement your area of study courses, such as history, business, communications, humanities and much more.
While this degree track is not focused on performance, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to perform — whether it’s as part of a musical ensemble or our 350-person marching band, in recitals, operas, in student organizations or as part of our resident symphony orchestra. A capstone project at the end of your studies allows you to show what you’ve learned and perform or present it — applying the knowledge and skills you’ve learned during previous courses while designing something catered to your learning goals.

The Bachelor of Arts in Art – History offers undergraduate students specific knowledge about art and architecture from prehistory to the present. Contextual, as well as stylistic approaches, provide exposure to different methodologies involved in the study of visual material. The BS in Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) prepares you to care for patients by ensuring that medical data is high quality and kept secure. The field provides a link between clinicians, administrators, technology designers, operations, and information technology professionals. You’ll present health information in a meaningful manner and are experts in managing, interpreting, analyzing, auditing, coding and converting health data into statistical information that everyone can use. Students completing the Forensic Science - Chemistry Track B.S. degree will also meet the requirements for ACS certification. This track is designed to allow students the flexibility to prepare for multiple careers in forensics through selection of restricted elective courses. Students should be advised that background checks similar to those required for law enforcement officers are likely to be a condition of employment (Reference: NIJ Report NCJ 203099).

In the secondary education program at UCF, learn about developing pedagogy and content knowledge to meet the needs of students in middle and high school classrooms. You’ll explore a variety of current technologies used for teaching and learning, like practicing your skills with TeachLivE avatars. Plus, there are a number of different professional development opportunities and organizations to get involved in while you’re here. For instance, KnightED Talks workshops are free, hour-long events that cover a range of topics related to the teaching profession and are conducted by university faculty and K-12 educators. There’s also an annual KnightEd Talks Student Showcase where you can share your best work with peers during a 30-minute session in an in-house conference venue.
