The BS in Health Informatics and Information Management (HIIM) prepares you to care for patients by ensuring that medical data is high quality and kept secure. The field provides a link between clinicians, administrators, technology designers, operations, and information technology professionals. You’ll present health information in a meaningful manner and are experts in managing, interpreting, analyzing, auditing, coding and converting health data into statistical information that everyone can use. The work you do will help improve patient outcomes.

Throughout your courses, learn about medicine, management, finance, information technology and law. In addition to medical coding skills, gain an understanding of how to use data analytics to interpret a variety of healthcare scenarios that may be encountered in the workplace. You’ll also have opportunities to interact with industry professionals through workshops and conferences. Plus, get hands-on experience through internships, a virtual hospital tour and extensive use of practice management software.

The study of human communication allows students to develop critical thinking skills, an understanding of cultural and gender-related differences in how people communicate, and it sharpens their marketable skills such as writing, public speaking and persuasion.

Students with a B.A. in human communication pursue jobs in a wide range of industries including management, sales, human resources, higher education (admissions and student services), marketing and training. Many students also continue their education in graduate school, law school and business or professional graduate degree programs.

Students must choose one track from the following: General Human Communication, Business and Professional Communication, Health Communication, Interpersonal Communication, or Social Innovation and Activism.

Religion and Cultural Studies is a B.A. program designed to familiarize students with religious traditions around the world, from ancient through contemporary cultures, as well as to introduce students to critical theories and methods through which to view and analyze the category of religion and its associated concepts, practices, and meanings in all areas of life. The program emphasizes the academic study of religion and does not privilege any particular tradition or belief.

The UCF Department of Statistics & Data Science acquaints students with in the methods of collection, analysis, interpretation, presentation and organization of data and the use of complex data in many different applications. The department offers two undergraduate degrees, one in statistics and one in actuarial science; an M.S. degree with two tracks in data mining and statistical computing; and SAS certificate program and a Ph.D. degree in big data analytics.

The mission of the UCF Department of Mathematics is to offer the opportunity for excellence and development to students with visionary and relevant programs of high quality at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to advance mathematical research to benefit society. Students completing the Forensic Science - Chemistry Track B.S. degree will also meet the requirements for ACS certification. This track is designed to allow students the flexibility to prepare for multiple careers in forensics through selection of restricted elective courses. Students should be advised that background checks similar to those required for law enforcement officers are likely to be a condition of employment (Reference: NIJ Report NCJ 203099).

The B.S. in Mechanical Engineering program helps you gain an understanding of core concepts such as mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis and electricity. You’ll pair these core principles with tools like computer-aided design software to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, cars, aircraft, robotics, medical devices and much more.

The BS in Event Management program provides you with the theoretical and practical tools needed to lead the future of the event industry. Our program provides you with a toolbox of resources, best practices and other skills needed to succeed.

Your courses will cover a broad set of skills that prepare you to manage small to large-scale events — from inception to implementation. Physics majors can select from two curricular options: a B.A. or B.S. in Physics. The B.A. gives students the flexibility to combine physics with another focus area in an interdisciplinary program, in particular Physics Education, Biophysics, Information Technology/Data Science, or Technical Writing.
