The criminal justice studies major is individualized and students choose the justice path that is right for them. The program is an excellent academic home for students interested in law and legal careers, intelligence, forensic psychology, federal law enforcement, probation and work with at-risk populations in the community.

As a sociology major you will build awareness for the different types of social inequality that exist, who is negatively impacted, where and how it emerges, and what perpetuates it. Courses will not only shed light on social inequality, but will teach you how to do something about it.

Our graduates enjoy successful careers in business analytics, computer science, economics, engineering, teaching and research. A degree in mathematics also prepares students for graduate studies in mathematics and many related fields.

We offer a theatre and dance major that allows for artists to become well-rounded and socially conscious practitioners through experiential learning in all areas. Students can pursue four different concentrations in the major: acting, applied theatre, dance and performance technology, or simply choose theatre studies for a generalist approach.

Economics is a social science and as such an important component of the liberal arts curriculum. It provides a useful background for students interested in careers in public policy, business or finance.

Students who study economics investigate the allocation of scarce resources. The foundation of economics is based on theories of how people, institutions and governments make choices and interact. Some of the topics that a student of economics studies are: pricing, the effects of taxing and regulation by the government, inflation, income distribution and international trade.

Because Economics straddles the worlds of business and social science, the demand for economics majors is strong in both the public and private sector. Economics is also great preparation for graduate school in fields as diverse as business, law, and public policy.

You'll understand the value behind equations, using critical thinking to ascertain their meaning. You'll be enrolled in a specially designed seminar course that offers an introduction to the division, its faculty, curriculum, opportunities for graduates, and the various policies and procedures necessary for the successful student to follow. This seminar provides information on cooperative education and internship opportunities, as well as extracurricular options. The classes are small, and the attention is as individual as needed. With the help of this seminar, along with the assistance of your knowledgeable adviser, you will discover the area of engineering technology that's right for you.

Once you decide on your engineering academic program, students admitted as Discover Engineering Technology are guaranteed to move into any engineering technology program and students admitted as Discover Engineering are guaranteed to move into any engineering program. The science facilities at University of Dayton’s Science Center complex include the latest equipment. As a graduate student, you’ll gain firsthand experience with nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometers, high pressure liquid chromatography equipment and more. Students may choose to pursue projects in all major chemistry sub-disciplines.
