Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology
There is more than one way to start an engineering career. If you are a hands-on person who enjoys learning by doing, engineering technology may be the pathway for you to become an engineer. Our Mechanical Engineering Technology program offers technical courses that teach you to use creativity and rational thinking to solve problems in design, manufacturing and management, as well as science and mathematics courses that provide you a solid foundation for future studies or career development.
With our small class sizes, faculty members with real-world engineering experience, and state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, we utilize hands-on learning to equip students with applied engineering knowledge and skills. Career opportunities for mechanical engineering technology graduates are in mechanical design, computer-aided design, product evaluation and development, manufacturing engineering, computer-aided manufacturing, plant engineering, technical sales, technical service, fluid power, automation, and technical management.
