The Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice at the University of Mississippi empowers students to explore their criminal justice interests from emphasis areas in corrections, homeland security or law enforcement

This program prepares students to move directly into a wide range of criminal justice careers upon graduation and is built upon practice experience. Our Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice program is staffed by outstanding, highly-published faculty, each of whom is committed to providing University of Mississippi students with the best academic preparation possible.

The B.A. in chemistry is designed for students who wish to pursue a degree in the physical sciences with a broad liberal arts background. Some students use this degree program to prepare for admission to pharmacy school or as the basis for studies in environmental law. Students interested in teaching chemistry at the high-school level may use this degree to prepare for alternate route teacher certification by following a specified curriculum with a minor in either biological science, mathematics, or physics.

The M.S. in sport and recreation administration provides advanced education and vocational opportunities to develop leisure service delivery skills and evaluation or research competencies for students committed to careers in leisure, sport, recreation, health, tourism, and/or research. Students choose either a 1) thesis, 2) special event planning, or 3) internship based on their education, experience, and career goals.

The M.A. in mathematics is designed (1) to prepare students for the teaching of mathematics, particularly in high schools and community colleges, (2) to prepare students for nonteaching professions or vocations, such as civil service, actuarial work, or statistical work, in which mathematics plays a principal part, or (3) for students who wish to supplement study in other fields with suitable courses in mathematics.

Art history majors at the University of Mississippi learn about monuments, artists and artistic periods. Students learn art studio fundamentals, understand art theory and criticism, conduct research, and discern the hidden/not-so-hidden ideas behind works of art.

The B.A. in art history equips students with a broad overview of the development of Western and non-Western art. Graduates may pursue a career as a museum curator or educator, an art critic or appraiser, or may continue their education with graduate school in preparation for university teaching.

Learn to identify opportunities, become innovative problem solvers, create and develop programs to support customer service, and build new projects inside or outside the traditional corporate setting within the Ole Miss entrepreneurship program.

The B.A. in theatre arts is a comprehensive, flexible degree that allows students to study various aspects of theatre such as performance ( acting, musical theatre, dance), theatrical production (stage management, directing), design (scenic, costumes, lighting, sound), film production, dramaturgy, theatre history, and dramatic literature. The B.A. degree is designed for students who want to teach, to pursue graduate education, to work in the entertainment industry, or to complement a double major or dual degree program.

Study German at the University of Mississippi to learn the language, linguistics, history, and culture of the German-speaking world. Gain the cultural awareness and intellectual strategies necessary to successfully navigate the interconnected and multicultural world in which we live.

The study of German provides students with the practical instruction in a second language required to function in a nonnative environment, as well as the cultural awareness and intellectual strategies necessary to successfully navigate a foreign landscape.

Economics is the study of the allocation of resources. Using mathematical and statistical models, economists consider how resources such as labor, land, money, and technology are distributed.  Economics majors gain a broad understanding of the field of economics as well as skills in statistics, mathematics, organization, research methodology, and verbal and written communication.

Economics provides a broad and systematic way of thinking about social, financial, and business problems. The B.A. in economics prepares a graduate for many positions in business and government. Some positions are economic analyst, statistician, and research assistant.

The Department of Modern Languages offers the M.A. in modern languages with emphases in French, German, linguistics, Spanish, and teaching English as a second language (TESOL).

Specialization - Spanish
An M.A. in Modern Languages with a specialization in Spanish allows students to focus on literature or linguistics and gives graduates a high proficiency in communicative skills and a deep awareness of cultures in the Spanish-speaking world. The degree prepares students for a teaching career at a variety of levels as well as doctoral work in the discipline.
