Students may also choose an optional emphasis in religious studies.
Philosophy is the study of the fundamental ideas underlying every dimension of human life. A major in philosophy helps one to think clearly, communicate persuasively, engage in moral reasoning, and formulate a coherent approach to life. Typically, philosophy majors go on to graduate school, law school, medical school, theological studies, or careers in business.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

The Ole Miss Hospitality Management program prepares students to handle a wide array of needs across the hospitality industry. Valuable hands-on experiences enables students to receive the academic foundation and practical experience needed to be successful after graduation.
Students who complete the program in hospitality management choose among many of the job settings in the growing hospitality industry, such as restaurants and food-service operations, hotels and other lodging facilities, event companies, resorts, casinos, entertainment centers, convention centers, travel firms, and visitor bureaus.

Geological engineers consider the engineering properties of natural soils and rock for building and protecting foundations, dams, levees and tunnels. They also work to reverse the environmental impacts of human activities in fields such as groundwater remediation and mine reclamation.

Students can concentrate in any of the following specialty areas: water resources, watershed systems, hydrology, surface water quality, stormwater, wastewater, solid waste, air pollution, groundwater modeling and remediation, and remote sensing and geospatial technologies. Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering with Emphasis in Biomolecular
The Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering (B.S.B.E.) degree program will prepare engineering students at the University of Mississippi to capably apply advanced mathematics, science, and engineering to solve the problems at the interface of engineering, biology, and medicine. Moreover, the curriculum will prepare graduates with the ability to make measurements on and interpret data from living systems, addressing the problems associated with the interaction between living and nonliving materials and systems.
The graduates of the program will be able to pursue (i) employment in biomedical or related industries (ii) graduate studies in biomedical engineering or related disciplines, and (iii) pursue professional careers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, or patent law.
You can choose one of three academic tracks in our biomedical engineering program:
Emphasis - Biomolecular
Biomolecular Engineering is an emerging discipline at the interface of molecular biology, biophysical chemistry, and chemical engineering — whose express purpose is developing novel molecular tools, materials, and approaches that are the focal point of applied and basic research within academia, industry, and medicine.
