The Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences program at the University of Mississippi fosters the knowledge and skills needed in today's health care environment. The M.S. in engineering science is offered in a number of emphasis areas: aeroacoustics, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computational hydroscience, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, electromagnetics, environmental engineering, geology, geological engineering, hydrology, mechanical engineering, material science and engineering, and telecommunications.

Emphasis - Geology
A M.S. in engineering science with emphasis in geology prepares a student with advanced technical knowledge and communication skills for pursuing a career in industry, research and development, public service, or for doctoral work.

Economics is the study of the allocation of resources. Using mathematical and statistical models, economists consider how resources such as labor, land, money, and technology are distributed.  Economics majors gain a broad understanding of the field of economics as well as skills in statistics, mathematics, organization, research methodology, and verbal and written communication.

Economics provides a broad and systematic way of thinking about social, financial, and business problems. The B.A. in economics prepares a graduate for many positions in business and government. Some positions are economic analyst, statistician, and research assistant.

Curricula of the School of Business Administration are designed both for those who plan to operate their own businesses and for those who plan to occupy responsible positions in business organizations. This unique program is designed to educate students as information system professionals. Students are provided with knowledge involving information systems technology, information concepts and processes, and organizational functions and management.

In our MIS program, you will gain the skills to create desktop and mobile applications, web pages, and databases with state-of-the-art technology. Our alumni work for industry-leading companies such as FedEx, Microsoft, and Yahoo!

What Will You Learn?

Our students will learn to write the code and master the software that businesses need to succeed. You will delve into Visual Basic and C# using Visual Studio, in addition to UML, Java, JavaScript, PHP, Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server.

Chinese majors at the University of Mississippi study the language, linguistics, literature, history, and culture of China. They gain the cultural awareness and intellectual strategies necessary to navigate the interconnected and multicultural world in which we live.

The study of Chinese provides students with the practical instruction in a second language required to function in a nonnative environment, as well as the cultural awareness and intellectual strategies necessary to successfully navigate a foreign landscape.

The General Engineering program at University of Mississippi is heavily rooted in mathematics, science, and core engineering coursework, but offers a breadth and flexibility not offered by other programs in order to enable students to tailor a program of study to suit their interests and career goals.

A general engineering background provides you with an understanding of the core math, scientific and technical principles needed for engineering. You’ll learn about problem-solving, as well as gain teamwork, leadership and communications skills.

You’ll explore the various engineering directions offered at Ole Miss in your first year in the general engineering program.

With a bachelor degree in engineering, you’ll be equipped for many engineering – and non-engineering – career paths. This could be as a project engineer, medical doctor, lawyer, military, business person and many other opportunities.

In general engineering, you will get:

• Degree choice – with the more specialized Bachelor of Science degree, you’ll take additional engineering science and engineering elective courses. With a Bachelor of Engineering, you get the core engineering science principles plus the flexibility to broaden your course selection outside of engineering.
• Tailored program – you can choose an emphasis in business, manufacturing, pre-law, pre-med, ROTC studies and secondary education – or one designed around your career interests.
• Opportunity to change to another engineering department – you can switch to a more specialized degree if you meet the academic requirements.

The Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition program at the University of Mississippi provides a solid foundation in food science and preparation as it relates to human health and well-being. The program in dietetics and nutrition provides an academic path for students to enter careers or advanced programs in dietetics and nutrition.

The B.S. in chemical engineering provides the student with a fundamental knowledge of chemical engineering science and prepares graduates for a variety of careers in industry and government, or for advanced study in engineering, business, or professional school.

With a chemical engineering degree, you will be ready to pursue careers in manufacturing, petrochemicals, oil and gas, biotechnology, the environmental field and more. Your degree can also pave the way to top graduate programs in medicine, business, law and advanced engineering fields.

You can choose the standard track, the pre-med track or one of the following emphases:

• Biotechnology – this includes the study and use of biological processes to make advancements in fields as diverse as drugs, agriculture and food.
• Environmental – this will give you the foundation to work in environmental areas, such as waste and pollution reduction.
• Manufacturing – you’ll learn the skills to improve processes and productivity in advanced manufacturing environments.
• Materials – you’ll delve into the world of advanced materials – such as polymers and nanomaterials (no hyphen in nanomaterials) – that can handle extreme conditions.

A Bachelor of Science in Geology allows students to study the composition and structure of the earth, earth history (environments and life), natural hazards (earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanism, etc), mineral and energy extraction, surface and groundwater, ocean processes, and more.

Study the earth, the materials of which it is made, their structure and the processes acting upon them

Geologists study the earth – its history, its composition and processes, as well as potential hazards such as earthquakes, volcanos, landslides and climate change.

With a geology degree, you can find a job in energy, mining, environmental consulting, government research and regulation. And, you’ll likely find yourself spending part of your workday outdoors – in swamps, mountains, forests, desert plains and out at sea.
