The M.S. in engineering science is offered in a number of emphasis areas: aeroacoustics, chemical engineering, civil engineering, computational hydroscience, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, electromagnetics, environmental engineering, geology, geological engineering, hydrology, mechanical engineering, material science and engineering, and telecommunications.

A degree of M.S. in engineering science with emphasis in civil engineering prepares a student with advanced technical knowledge and communication skills for pursuing a career in industry, engineering research and development, public service, or for doctoral work. The program offers a choice of several concentration areas: structures, geotechnical engineering, construction materials, water resource engineering, environmental engineering, transportation systems, infrastructure asset management, and earthquake and disaster response management.

Learn to identify opportunities, become innovative problem solvers, create and develop programs to support customer service, and build new projects inside or outside the traditional corporate setting within the Ole Miss entrepreneurship program.

Students may earn a degree in economics at the University of Mississippi three different ways: the Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in economics, the Bachelor of Arts in economics, and the new, more technical Bachelor of Science in economics. The quantitative B.S. degree is more suitable for those who wish to prepare for graduate study in economics. Students take advanced mathematics, introductory and advanced micro and macro economics, econometrics, and mathematical economics.

Real Estate students at the University of Mississippi develop an in-depth understanding of appraisal and real estate development, including buying, selling, and managing residential and commercial properties and land.

Buy or lease? Invest or sell? Develop an in-depth understanding of appraisals and real estate development, including buying, selling, and managing residential and commercial properties in the Ole Miss real estate program. You’ll be the link between properties and investors.

What will you learn?
You’ll receive instruction in principles, finance, appraisal, law, land use controls, and investment analysis. You’ll learn about brokerage, lending, corporate positions, and government agencies. On graduation, you will be prepared for examinations for state real estate broker and salesperson licenses.

The Master of Music is an advanced professional degree designed to develop a particular area in music to a high level of specialization. The university offers the M.M. with the following emphases:

• Performance in woodwind, brass, string, or percussion instruments, piano, and voice;
• Music education;
• Choral conducting;
• Musicology;
• Music theory;
• Ethnomusicology;
• Collaborative piano.

Emphasis - Music Education
The M.M. degree with an emphasis in music education is designed to give the student advanced training in music and K-12 music education and/or prepares him/her for study at the doctoral level.

A Bachelor of Science in Geology allows students to study the composition and structure of the earth, earth history (environments and life), natural hazards (earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanism, etc), mineral and energy extraction, surface and groundwater, ocean processes, and more.

Geologists study the earth – its history, its composition and processes, as well as potential hazards such as earthquakes, volcanos, landslides and climate change.

With a geology degree, you can find a job in energy, mining, environmental consulting, government research and regulation. And, you’ll likely find yourself spending part of your workday outdoors – in swamps, mountains, forests, desert plains and out at sea.

By studying Arabic at the University of Mississippi, you'll learn the language, linguistics, literature, and culture of the Middle East and North Africa. Gain the cultural awareness and intellectual strategies necessary to navigate the interconnected and multicultural world in which we live.

The study of Arabic provides students with the practical instruction in a second language required to function in a nonnative environment, as well as the cultural awareness and intellectual strategies necessary to successfully navigate a foreign landscape.

The major in computer science for the B.A. degree offers a flexible curriculum that enables the study of computer science to be combined with studies in other areas of the liberal arts and sciences. Marketing students learn how to research target audiences, advise on how to develop products for consumer desires, and determine product pricing structure. Students learn to select effective channels to communicate with customers and develop and implement promotional strategies.

Marketing is a creative, fast-paced industry. Our faculty will help you get inside the mind of prospective customers so you’ll know how to promote, develop, and sell products to them. Remember, without a plan, there is no sale!
