The Operations and Supply Chain program at the Darla Moore School of Business pairs a robust classroom environment and real-world, experiential learning to provide students with the skills to systematically analyze data and improve business processes.

What makes our program stand out from the rest is the opportunity for our students to get the actual Lean Six Sigma green-belt certification from the industry through a rigorous coverage of Lean Six Sigma approach to supply chain and operations management, a formal written green-belt exam from Sonoco (a $4 billion global manufacturing company based in Hartsville, S.C.) and completion of a major certified project in one of our center partner firms to meet the project requirement for green-belt certification. There is no other program that provides such a rich opportunity in Lean Six Sigma certification from industry to its undergraduate students in business.

In the real estate program through the nationally ranked Darla Moore School of Business, you can expect to learn the concepts, principles and methodologies used in real estate analysis and decision-making.

As a real estate major, you will focus on topics such as market analysis, real estate finance, property appraisal, investment analysis and portfolio management. You will learn about appraisal, development and purchasing of houses and other properties. The M.S. degree is an academic research degree, which may be tailored to individual interests and job market needs. This degree requires a minimum of 36 graduate hours and combines real-world problem solving and research skills with other technical, health and related skills to prepare effective environmental health researchers for the public and private sectors. M.S. program graduates are often employed within federal, state and local public health and environmental protection agencies, federal and state research laboratories, contract research laboratories, industry, consulting firms and universities. As a mechanical engineering major, you will have the opportunity to work with a professor in research on some of today’s most notable engineering challenges. You will develop skills that will give you the ability to solve many of today’s world problems. Mechanical engineering majors will choose a concentration from design and manufacturing, engineering materials, mechanics of solids, thermal and fluid systems, and nuclear engineering.

Chemists are in great demand today in industry, government and university laboratories. Studying the areas of general, analytical, biological, inorganic and physical chemistry, as well as interdivisional courses, our graduates are positioned to excel in their careers.

As a chemistry major, you will be exposed to outstanding undergraduate research opportunities, which open a new world of career opportunities for students. You will be able to take courses in popular fields such as environmental, forensic and aquatic chemistry. You will develop critical-thinking and problem-solving skills through the challenging curriculum.

Students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry will develop a strong base for continued study in medical, dental, pharmacy and other professional schools. Students who choose the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with the American Chemical Society Certification will develop the skills necessary for a career in chemistry.

•  Majors will learn the importance of the principal movements, pivotal figures, and conceptual ideas that shape the academic study of African American experiences. Students will acquire the tools for contextualizing the dynamic realities of race in America and for analyzing their social, political, and cultural implications.
•     Majors will work across academic disciplines in the humanities and social sciences to synthesize the multiple roots and routes of intellectual inquiry within African American Studies. Students will interpret primary and secondary source material using both individual and collaborative methods of study.
•     Students will develop as scholars and researchers in African American Studies through effective oral, written, and aesthetic forms of communication. Assignments will emphasize the tasks of rigorous scholarship, including: critical thinking, creative expression, precise writing, constructive discussions, and standards of professional engagement.
