The Master of Arts in Criminology and Criminal Justice program is a professional degree designed to provide criminal justice professionals with coursework in criminal justice system operation, criminology, research methods, and statistics. The degree program provides students with advanced instruction that prepares them to use evidence-based practices in the criminal justice system. Beyond career advancement for practitioners, the masters degree also provides rigorous social science training that prepares students for continued doctoral study.

As a public relations major, you will develop strong writing and account management skills through interactive classes and extensive writing assignments. You'll learn how to create campaigns, write press releases and manage events as you develop your public relations acumen. You will work collaboratively with your classmates and be encouraged to participate activities like The Carolina Agency, our student-run advertising and public relations agency. You also have the opportunity to earn academic credit by participating in supervised internships. And as a senior in your capstone experience, you will create a comprehensive public relations campaign for an actual client. These real-life experiences will help prepare you for entry-level positions upon graduation.

Exercise science majors will have unique hands-on opportunities, including involvement in clinical and community programs that provide exercise-related services to children, teens, young adults and adults.

Through your courses, you will develop the knowledge needed to describe the relationship among physical activity, functional capacity, health and disease across the lifespan. You will also be able to demonstrate laboratory proficiency through written and practical evaluations. You will also receive your first-aid certificate through core requirements.

Graduates with a BS in Mathematics will, if they wish to pursue studies at the graduate level, be prepared with the necessary analytical skills, openness to new ideas, and positive attitudes (patience, persistence, and enthusiasm) for success. Those going on to employment will have the analytical skills that they need, an ability to learn new ones, and habits of mind that are conducive to productive and rewarding work. Graduates will be aware that mathematics is often a collaborative activity, and that careful reading and clear writing are as important as computational skills. They will know that mathematics is continually growing as research answers old questions and brings forth new ones. Finally, they will find joy in learning, doing, and communicating mathematics to others.

Mechanical engineering majors will choose a concentration from design and manufacturing, engineering materials, mechanics of solids, thermal and fluid systems, and nuclear engineering.

In the real estate program through the nationally ranked Darla Moore School of Business, you can expect to learn the concepts, principles and methodologies used in real estate analysis and decision-making.

As a real estate major, you will focus on topics such as market analysis, real estate finance, property appraisal, investment analysis and portfolio management. Civil engineers analyze, plan, design, and build structures such as buildings, bridges, dams, tunnels and roads. They create infrastructure systems for personal and mass transportation. Their work contributes to the management of water resources and natural hazard protection. They provide for environmental control and remediation of both the natural and constructed environment. Civil engineers also manage urban planning and public works projects, perform air quality monitoring and plan and design waste collection and handling systems.
