The bachelor of arts program in environmental studies has coursework that includes sustainability, policy and advocacy. The curriculum was significantly revised beginning in fall 2020 to include courses in environment and society, science and a skills class.

Do you see yourself working in media using a variety of skills to create content or to deliver information through different mediums? Through our undergraduate curriculum, you will gain a broad understanding of media and develop skills to be a well-rounded communicator.

Know you want a career in communications but aren't sure which part? That's OK. We'll help you identify your strengths and focus your interests. You'll gain broad insight into the communications industry and learn to recognize and analyze the media’s role in our society. You'll graduate with a deep intellectual understanding of the elements at work in the media today, and you'll be well rounded and media literate.

Students have the opportunity to complete a degree in organizational leadership online without disrupting commitments to work and family. This degree will prepare you for the workplace, especially as you focus on leadership roles in your organization.

With the help of an advisor, you will devise a curriculum with courses from three workplace-oriented areas, supported by courses in professional foundations. The organizational development program focuses on communication and leadership skills with a view to careers in government agencies, nonprofit organizations or business settings.

As a physics major, you will be exposed to challenging coursework that will give you a solid foundation in all of the central areas of physics, including Newtonian mechanics, electricity and magnetism, statistical physics and quantum mechanics. You will also have the opportunity to tailor the program to your own interests by choosing from specialized experimental courses or designing your own research program in consultation with our faculty researchers.

As a physics major, you will be exposed to challenging coursework that will give you a solid foundation in all of the central areas of physics, including Newtonian mechanics, electricity and magnetism, statistical physics and quantum mechanics. Aerospace engineering graduate degrees include the Master of Engineering (M.E.), which is perceived to be more practically oriented, and the Master of Science (M.S.), which is considered more scholarly or fundamental and includes a thesis.

Programs of study for both the M.S. and M.E. in Aerospace Engineering include coursework in five core areas:

• Aeroelasticity
• Aerodynamics and Flight Mechanics
• Aerospace Structures
• Composite Materials
• Finite Element Analysis

Additional electives allow students to concentrate their studies in the mechanics, materials, and flight aspects of aerospace engineering.

• Students will understand fundamental financial concepts related to the time value of money and risk-expected return tradeoffs.  
• Students will have basic knowledge of the institutional context in which financial decisions and transactions take place.  
• Students will be able to conduct a capital budgeting analysis, including calculating expected cash flows, cost of capital, and net present value.
• Students will be able to assess the risk-expected return tradeoffs when constructing a portfolio and apply metrics to assess portfolio performance.  
• Students will be able to evaluate a company’s prospects and risks.  
• Students will be able to infer the impact of business decisions on firm performance.

The ability to comprehend and communicate in diverse languages not only prepares our students to understand the history and traditions of our own culture but also equips them to be active and engaged representatives in the global economy and world affairs. The major in languages, with its multiple and flexible tracks, is vital for the preparation of the next generation of citizens and leaders.

Undergraduate students who choose a language concentration will be able to demonstrate intermediate to advanced level proficiency in their target language(s). They will be able to evaluate and discuss literary and cultural texts, or linguistic documents, and advance arguments effectively through strong writing and research skills. Students will gain a greater understanding of the significance of the sociopolitical structures and intellectual and literary/artistic contributions of the target culture and language sphere. They'll also be able to recognize, describe and reflect upon the cultural practices that shape social interactions in the target culture. Students who choose a PK-12 teaching certification concentration will also be well-prepared to begin a career teaching their chosen language.

But defending against cybersecurity threats requires a holistic approach, and a growing number of jobs require skills in identifying cyber security issues and developing responses that are sensitive to cultural, institutional, and ethical issues.

A degree in cyber intelligence prepares you for a career defending the security of personal privacy, government and military operations, and corporate data, with a well-rounded education that champions critical thinking and problem solving.

Chemists are in great demand today in industry, government and university laboratories. Studying the areas of general, analytical, biological, inorganic and physical chemistry, as well as interdivisional courses, our graduates are positioned to excel in their careers.

As a chemistry major, you will be exposed to outstanding undergraduate research opportunities, which open a new world of career opportunities for students. You will be able to take courses in popular fields such as environmental, forensic and aquatic chemistry. You will develop critical-thinking and problem-solving skills through the challenging curriculum.

Students pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry will develop a strong base for continued study in medical, dental, pharmacy and other professional schools. Students who choose the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with the American Chemical Society Certification will develop the skills necessary for a career in chemistry.

As an international business major, you will develop leading-edge knowledge concerning the practice of global business.  

The department emphasizes the understanding of cross-border relationships — both within the same organization and across multiple organizations — comprising the modern multinational enterprise, as well as the institutional, financial, sociocultural and sociopolitical contexts surrounding the enterprise. International business majors have the opportunity to concentrate on business in Chinese enterprise, the Middle East and North Africa, Latin America or Central Europe.

As an international business major, you will benefit from challenging coursework, cutting-edge business knowledge and skills with a strong foundation in liberal arts and sciences.
