The environmental sciences major was launched in fall 2009 as part of the environment and sustainability program. It is designed to give students a strong scientific background while allowing them the flexibility to choose courses that address their specific interests.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

Undergraduate Extended Accelerator Pathway (3-Term) - Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology
As an anthropology major, you will gain knowledge in four areas: cultural anthropology, archaeology, linguistic anthropology and biological anthropology. You will experience intensive discussion, multimedia engagement and hands-on applications in many classes, while acquiring skills in research methodology and presentation. Anthropology majors also have the opportunity to participate in research and fieldwork, both abroad and locally.
You will develop skills necessary to appreciate the cultural and biological diversity of humans, while learning how to apply this knowledge in a variety of ways. Many unique opportunities await you, such as getting involved with a field school offered each summer in archaeology and ethnology.

Undergraduate Academic Accelerator Pathway (2-Term) - Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art
As the largest art department in the state, our art studio provides you with a wide array of opportunities in concentrations such as ceramics, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.
The art studio program offers students the opportunity to choose from two undergraduate degrees: the Bachelor of Arts in Art Studio and the Bachelor of Fine Arts. The B.A. is a well-rounded liberal arts major that offers a solid foundation in multiple types of art and is ideal for students interested in double majoring. The B.F.A. is a pre-professional degree that allows students to focus in one of our seven concentration areas: ceramics, drawing, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking or sculpture (3D studies).

Graduate Master Accelerator Pathway (2-Term) - Master of Science in Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurial Engineering
The goal of this one-year graduate program is to inspire entrepreneurial-minded science and engineering students to take leaderships roles in product design in large organizations and embark on new business ventures. The program includes an integrated curriculum, new venture creation projects, an innovation immersion module, and is taught by a blend of academic faculty and experienced entrepreneurs and investors from the private sector.

Undergraduate Extended Accelerator Pathway (3-Term) - Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership
Students have the opportunity to complete a degree in organizational leadership online without disrupting commitments to work and family. This degree will prepare you for the workplace, especially as you focus on leadership roles in your organization.
With the help of an advisor, you will devise a curriculum with courses from three workplace-oriented areas, supported by courses in professional foundations. The organizational development program focuses on communication and leadership skills with a view to careers in government agencies, nonprofit organizations or business settings.

Electrical Engineering at UofSC has advanced facilities, labs, computing and simulation infrastructure to allow students to carry out research activities.
We offer paid research assistantships and tuition for full-time Ph.D. students. Prospective students may also apply and receive national or international fellowships like the NSF Graduate Fellowship, National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship, or fellowships from international entities and governments to support their Ph.D. program of study. M.S. students may also apply and receive very limited teaching assistantships or research assistantships, depending on the availability of funds. M.E. students are normally self-supported or supported by their governments, employers, or sponsors.

Our students learn to work with individuals, couples, families, groups, neighborhoods, communities and organizations to empower them to meet their needs.
As a social work major, you can expect to develop skills in community organizing, diversity, social justice, networking, interviewing, multitasking, case management and grant-writing. You will also be able to gain hands-on experience in the field through service-learning that is integrated into academic coursework. You may also choose to pursue the Child Welfare Certificate and become certified in child welfare and receive a fellowship from the Department of Social Services.
