As a public health major, you will develop the specialized knowledge and skills needed to address current and emerging public health issues. You will learn to demonstrate proficient reasoning and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to analyze, synthesize and evaluate information to make sound decisions and solve problems as they apply to public health.

As a student in the only school of public health in the state of South Carolina, you will discover quality learning experiences both in and out of the classroom. In fact, the Arnold School of Public Health leads the university in extramural funding per tenure-track faculty members and is a major contributor to the university's recognition by the Carnegie Foundation as an institution of both "high community service activity" and "high research activity.

The foundation of the music theory program is a rigorous two-year undergraduate sequence that instructs all music majors and minors in written theory and aural skills.

Students have the opportunity to explore interests in related fields such as musicology, composition and computer music and to work closely with faculty mentors on undergraduate research projects.

We also provide students with a wide variety of innovative courses in composition, conducting, education, history and performance, designed to serve the needs of our program.

As a geography major, you will take courses in computer cartography, GIS and air photo interpretation/remote sensing. You will also have ample opportunities to study the Earth’s physical features and processes and how this physical environment is modified by human activities. Students may choose to take courses that include the real-world collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation of geographic data to prepare you for careers in geography.

Our Chemical Engineering graduate program is ranked in the top 30 nationally by the National Research Council and ranked 14th nationally in federally funded chemical research and development by the National Science Foundation.
