Overview

The studio art program offers two Bachelor degree options. As a studio art major, you will benefit from outstanding facilities and hands-on experience through internship and research opportunities.

    The B.A. in Studio Art is a general degree that allows students to explore many different mediums and, at 39 credit hours, is well suited for students who are interested in double majoring.

All B.F.A. undergraduate students will:

  • Define and explain development of art, within their own and other cultures, from prehistory to the present.
  • Critically analyze aspects of the design and art-making process and evaluate theories, philosophies and research in the practice of the studio arts.
  • Through their artwork, demonstrate their competency of aesthetic literacy.
  • Synthesize their learning from the curriculum into a final culminating experience within their chosen concentration.
  • Have a solo exhibition of their creative research to be examined by the student’s major faculty.

Work Permit USA

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.

It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

  1. Pre-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment provided to F-1 students before completion of their course of study.
  2. Post-Completion OPT: This is temporary employment available to F-1 students after completing their course of study.
  3. 24 Month STEM Extension: Students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) courses can a 24-month extension after their initial Post-Completion OPT authorization.

Our aerospace engineering program provides a strong foundation in engineering science and engineering design as applied to aerospace materials and structures, including their mechanical and aerodynamic characteristics and behaviors. The Bachelor of Science in Music Industry Studies is designed for students who want to major in music while receiving a broad, liberal arts education. No audition is required for this major, making it the perfect choice for students who desire a career in music but may lack traditional training. A large part of the degree is based on experiential learning, with students engaging with professionals via guest lectures, interactive job site visits and shadowing, and internships.

Students must satisfy all general education requirements as specified in the chosen degree. These requirements are designed to give students broad experience in liberal arts and sciences and opportunities to develop intellectual skills in analysis and evaluation, as well as competence in written and oral communication. Course work also includes a basic education in music, along with courses in recording sciences, live event promotions and production, marketing and entrepreneurship. Studies culminate in a two-semester capstone project that draws on the student's experiences and allows them to focus on the area of the music industry that they are most strongly drawn to.

As an anthropology major, you will gain knowledge in four areas: cultural anthropology, archaeology, linguistic anthropology and biological anthropology. You will experience intensive discussion, multimedia engagement and hands-on applications in many classes, while acquiring skills in research methodology and presentation. Anthropology majors also have the opportunity to participate in research and fieldwork, both abroad and locally.

Aerospace engineering graduate degrees include the Master of Engineering (M.E.), which is perceived to be more practically oriented, and the Master of Science (M.S.), which is considered more scholarly or fundamental and includes a thesis.

Programs of study for both the M.S. and M.E. in Aerospace Engineering include coursework in five core areas:

The challenge of 21st-century communications is to combine the information-gathering function-research and data bases-with the disciplines of disseminating information-journalism, advertising, public relations, visual communications, and mass communications.
 
The college’s School of Journalism and Mass Communications is professionally oriented and grounded strongly in the liberal arts. It offers instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Course work is offered in electronic and print journalism, advertising, public relations, visual communications, and mass communications to train students in both the processes and effects of mass communication.

As a geography major, you will take courses in computer cartography, GIS and air photo interpretation/remote sensing. You will also have ample opportunities to study the Earth’s physical features and processes and how this physical environment is modified by human activities.
