From the history of food to a close examination of modern Asian societies, the history department offers a wide variety of classes that cover many diverse themes. Some focus on specific time periods, while others take a regional approach. Just as diverse is the array of specialties our faculty members draw from to illuminate historical topics.

The organizational leadership degree completion program aims to help students develop a basic understanding of the theories of leadership  and how to best implement changes in order to guide successful organizations. Courses cover topics such as leadership development, project management, communication, public relations, conflict management and social psychology.

This program is gives you the problem?solving, collaboration, communication and leadership skills required to lead organizations. Between your family and your career, we understand your priorities. The Bachelor of Science in Accounting is a four-year degree that includes study of all functional areas of accounting including financial, managerial, cost, federal income tax accounting, accounting information systems, and auditing. Graduates of the program are fully prepared to enter accounting careers in the corporate, governmental, and not-for-profit areas. The program consists of 128 hours of coursework, and positions those graduates who desire licensure as Certified Public Accountants to continue their studies.

In addition to the general education courses required by the University, the Bachelor of Science in Accounting curriculum requires a set of preprofessional skills courses in the areas of communication, mathematics and economics. Many of these courses also satisfy certain general education requirements. Students also progress through a series of courses in core business areas such as accounting, management, marketing and finance. In their junior year, students begin their intermediate accounting studies, and end the program with a series of advanced accounting courses including auditing, advanced financial accounting, cost accounting, and income tax accounting.

Pacific's Master of Accounting (MAcc) program is designed to prepare students for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) under California's new education rules. Offered on Pacific's beautiful Stockton campus, the program can be completed in as little as 2 semesters for those with an undergraduate degree in accounting, or 3-4 semesters for those with a degree in a different field.

90% of MAcc program graduates accept an offer in the field within six months of graduation, including the Big Four (Deloitte, EY, KPMG, & PwC), as well as large multi-state, regional, and local CPA firms. Students benefit from the customized career services offered by the Eberhardt Career Management Center, including individual counseling, resume review, networking opportunities, and more.

The world of bioengineering, also known as biomedical engineering, has expanded immensely and continues to grow at a rapid pace, creating new opportunities for engineers who have knowledge of biological sciences, chemistry and physical systems.

Pacific is one of the first universities in the country to offer a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering degree. Students in the program explore biomechanical, bioelectrical, biotransport and biomaterial topics. Within the bioengineering program there is a specialized pathway that supports pre-health and pre-medical students as they complete the requirements for admission to professional programs.

As a bioengineer, you can impact the quality of life of patients. Career options are wide-ranging and include medical research, design of medical instruments, biorobotics and even intellectual property law.

Students will select a career path that focuses on a study plan to meet their specific interests and career goals. There are three suggested "career paths." These include the bioelectrical, biomechanical and biomedical career paths.

Students interested in a liberal arts education may satisfy a desire for a better understanding of themselves and others through a major in psychology. The Department of Psychology is a large, thriving community where students are exposed to several fascinating areas of study including behavioral, biological, clinical, cognitive, developmental and social psychology. The diversity of course, fieldwork and internship offerings provides students with opportunities to study and have first-hand experience with a wide range of human behaviors and problems.

Our students graduate with valuable research and applied experience, which enriches their education at Pacific and greatly increases their attractiveness as future employees, graduate students or professional school students.

Mechanical engineering majors are part of a dynamic field of study that engages students in a diverse range of activities including machine design and analysis, product development, environmental control, robotics and manufacturing. Pacific students are provided the broad technical knowledge and practical experience necessary to thrive in their careers and postgraduate studies.

In their profession, mechanical engineers understand form and function and know materials like the back of their hand. Their skills and vision transform concepts into tangible products that follow the principles of functional design. From jet engines to medical devices, mechanical engineers build products that support society.

The School of Engineering and Computer Science (SOECS) also offers a master’s degree in engineering science with a concentration in mechanical engineering. Through our blended program, students can begin graduate course work during their senior year at Pacific and complete their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in five years.

The Social Sciences major is an interdisciplinary program that provides training in History, Political Science, Sociology, Economics and Geography. Social Sciences students learn both qualitative and quantitative methodologies in their exploration of human society. Graduates may pursue careers such as business administration, government, law, law enforcement, human resources, and public policy. The major is also designed for students interested in high school teaching and coaching. The major is aligned with the Social Science subject matter exam on the California Subject Examination for Teachers (CSET). Prospective teachers must earn a passing score on the the Social Sciences CSET exam to be certified as teachers.

This major appeals to students with a broad range of interests. Students completing the Social Sciences major in the College of the Pacific may also concurrently complete the Single Subject Credential through the Benerd School of Education. The major requires a minimum of 45 semester units, detailed below. Music composition at University of the Pacific is a fully immersive and broad major which will position you well to navigate this ever-evolving field of music. You will spend extensive time writing works for a variety of ensembles, learning a broad range of compositional techniques and honing your own compositional voice. You will compose for solo instruments, small ensembles, voice, chorus, percussion, digital media and larger musical forces such as orchestra and band. Specialized studies in orchestration, contemporary performance techniques, electronic music and film scoring will add crucial skills to your creative tool kit.
