Computer science majors are part of a constantly evolving field that has virtually unlimited growth. From programming technology for major companies to creating video games that are played by millions, computer scientists build and maintain complex technological systems used throughout society.

Pacific’s computer science program offers three concentrations, which define a focused set of upper-division elective courses:

• Graphics and simulation
• Networking and computer security
• Software development.

All three concentrations are built upon a foundation of math, science and engineering that prepares students to be successful and adaptable as new technologies emerge.

Education in mathematics assists students in developing, to their fullest potential, their mathematical reasoning, communication and problem solving skills. Students who choose to major in mathematics are provided opportunities to develop strong problem solving skills that use quantitative methods and appropriate technology. They understand the strengths, limitations and wide applicability of mathematical modeling in a variety of disciplines. Students develop an appreciation for the discipline and esthetics of mathematics, effectiveness in problem solving, and an appropriate understanding of theory.

Electrical engineering is a broad field that encompasses a wide range of topics such as communication systems, automatic control systems, energy conversion, digital signal processing and integrated circuits. Students pursuing an electrical engineering degree are taught fundamentals that allow them to understand their area of concentration as well as grasp general engineering concepts. This broad understanding of engineering allows electrical engineers to communicate their ideas to others in their field and adapt to rapidly changing technology.

Throughout their time at Pacific, students work with a faculty mentor to develop a curriculum plan based around their interests and skills. Whether it’s renewable energy systems or motor control, electrical engineering electives provide avenues for exploration within this broad, dynamic field.

The Master of Science in Engineering Science (MSES) program is designed to strengthen students' technical, analytical, and professional breadth and depth. All students receiving an MSES degree will complete a set of core courses that covers the broader subjects of research and analysis. Students are allowed admission to the MSES program after completing their bachelor's degree. Traditional MSES students may qualify for a graduate assistantship, which provides tuition and a living stipend.

The University of the Pacific prepares you for tomorrow’s mechanical engineering challenges. MSES-ME provides students with scientific and technical knowledge of mechanical engineering.

Pacific's Master of Accounting (MAcc) program is designed to prepare students for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) under California's new education rules. Offered on Pacific's beautiful Stockton campus, the program can be completed in as little as 2 semesters for those with an undergraduate degree in accounting, or 3-4 semesters for those with a degree in a different field.

90% of MAcc program graduates accept an offer in the field within six months of graduation, including the Big Four (Deloitte, EY, KPMG, & PwC), as well as large multi-state, regional, and local CPA firms. Students benefit from the customized career services offered by the Eberhardt Career Management Center, including individual counseling, resume review, networking opportunities, and more.

From the history of food to a close examination of modern Asian societies, the history department offers a wide variety of classes that cover many diverse themes. Some focus on specific time periods, while others take a regional approach. Just as diverse is the array of specialties our faculty members draw from to illuminate historical topics.

The Department of English is an active and thriving community, where students meet respected professionals who are using their own English degrees in innovative and exciting ways, and gain hands-on publishing experience by working on Pacific's nationally-recognized, award-winning literary magazine, Calliope. Our students graduate with real-world skills and a passion for literature and knowledge that give them a unique perspective on the world around them as they step into their futures.

An appreciation of the principles of chemistry is fundamental to understanding our daily lives and the future of our planet. Chemistry also serves as a foundation not only to industrial careers, but also to careers in the health sciences. The emphasis in all chemistry classes is to provide a thorough understanding of basic chemical concepts and to develop the competence in how to apply these concepts in a logical fashion to solve real world problems. Students can choose among a variety of degree programs designed to meet a range of career goals.

The new Master of Science in Computer Science degree program is built on a 96-year foundation of engineering and computer science at University of the Pacific. The one to two-year program, taught at the iconic ivy-covered campus in Stockton, California, teaches students advanced techniques and best practices of professional research and establishes the intellectual foundations for achieving excellence in the field of computer science. Graduates of the degree program will be prepared to create new technologies and enhance existing systems with a curriculum that dives into machine learning, data science, virtual reality, and more.
