Our department takes a broad view of the Earth and offers courses that develop a scientific understanding of our planet, its history, natural systems, resources and recent global change. We offer rigorous degree programs in Geology and Environmental Science that will prepare you for successful careers. Students in our department are immersed in experiences driven by our hands-on approach to learning.
We build outdoor experiences into every class and facilitate abundant domestic and international travel opportunities. While many of these trips explore fascinating locations throughout California, we also offer trips that explore a much broader range of locations around our world. Our majors travel to a range of regional and international destinations, including Scotland, the Chilean Patagonia, Hawaii, the Colorado plateau, and a variety of locations throughout the west coast of North America. Many of our majors work closely with faculty on award-winning research projects that can take students to exotic geologic locales, including western Ireland, Japan, the ancient Appalachian Mountains of upstate New York, the Marshall Islands and the high Sierra Nevada.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry
An appreciation of the principles of chemistry is fundamental to understanding our daily lives and the future of our planet. Chemistry also serves as a foundation not only to industrial careers, but also to careers in the health sciences. The emphasis in all chemistry classes is to provide a thorough understanding of basic chemical concepts and to develop the competence in how to apply these concepts in a logical fashion to solve real world problems. Students can choose among a variety of degree programs designed to meet a range of career goals.
The BS Biochemistry program follows national guidelines and is aligned with pre-requisites for professional schools. In order to earn the bachelor of science degree with a major in chemistry, students must complete a minimum of 120 units with a Pacific cumulative and major/program grade point average of 2.0.

The goal of the health, exercise and sport sciences program is to examine how movement-based physical activities, exercise and sport contribute to the quality of human life. We do this from a wide range of perspectives including biology, chemistry, psychology, sociology, business, education and philosophy to ensure that you are able to conceptualize and analyze health and human movement in a holistic manner.

Undergraduate Academic Accelerator Pathway (2-Term) - Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
Electrical engineering is a broad field that encompasses a wide range of topics such as communication systems, automatic control systems, energy conversion, digital signal processing and integrated circuits. Students pursuing an electrical engineering degree are taught fundamentals that allow them to understand their area of concentration as well as grasp general engineering concepts. This broad understanding of engineering allows electrical engineers to communicate their ideas to others in their field and adapt to rapidly changing technology.
Throughout their time at Pacific, students work with a faculty mentor to develop a curriculum plan based around their interests and skills. Whether it’s renewable energy systems or motor control, electrical engineering electives provide avenues for exploration within this broad, dynamic field.

Master of Accounting
Pacific's Master of Accounting (MAcc) program is designed to prepare students for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) under California's new education rules. Offered on Pacific's beautiful Stockton campus, the program can be completed in as little as 2 semesters for those with an undergraduate degree in accounting, or 3-4 semesters for those with a degree in a different field.
90% of MAcc program graduates accept an offer in the field within six months of graduation, including the Big Four (Deloitte, EY, KPMG, & PwC), as well as large multi-state, regional, and local CPA firms. Students benefit from the customized career services offered by the Eberhardt Career Management Center, including individual counseling, resume review, networking opportunities, and more.

Master of Science in Engineering Science with Concentration in Mechanical Engineering
The Master of Science in Engineering Science (MSES) program is designed to strengthen students' technical, analytical, and professional breadth and depth. All students receiving an MSES degree will complete a set of core courses that covers the broader subjects of research and analysis. Students are allowed admission to the MSES program after completing their bachelor's degree. Traditional MSES students may qualify for a graduate assistantship, which provides tuition and a living stipend.

Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics
The applied mathematics major is designed for students who are interested in applying their mathematics skills to problems in the real world, for example, in engineering. Our students graduate with a passion for mathematics and learning and are able to apply the problem-solving skills learned in the classroom to the world around them. Our mathematics program offers opportunities for you to refine your knowledge and use of mathematics content, communication and teamwork, mathematical reasoning and problem solving, and technology. Courses are intended to give you a competitive edge when you enter the job market.

Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene
Pacific has created a distinctive accelerated Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene for highly qualified students. In addition to clinical practice, the baccalaureate hygiene degree allows entry into many positions in teaching, research, administration, public health, private industry and other areas of hygiene practice, as well as application for entry into advanced degree programs.
First-year admission to the Dental Hygiene program is competitive and based on merit. A student may apply as a first-year student in a Dental Hygiene major, completing the prerequisite coursework listed below at Pacific. A high school GPA of at least 2.7 is required, as well as courses in biology, chemistry and other college-preparatory classes.
To advance directly to the upper-division major coursework at the Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco, students must complete their prerequisite coursework with a minimum 3.0 GPA. In addition to the successful completion of the pre-requisite coursework, transfer students are required to have 2 letters of recommendation of their choosing, and have completed a minimum of 20 hours of shadowing with a dental hygienist. Dental Hygiene majors who began our program as freshmen at the Stockton campus who earn a GPA below 3.0 may still apply to the upper-division dental hygiene courses. Since matriculation is not automatic, they will be guaranteed an interview, but not guaranteed admission.
