Integrative studies is an interdisciplinary program geared toward meeting each student’s personal, academic and career goals, as well as providing knowledge and skills to meet the needs of emerging professions. Students may choose to pursue an MBA with a specialization in project management. Sustainability
The integrative studies degree with a focus in sustainability prepares students to apply sustainability concepts, principles and technical approaches to address “green” career needs in a variety of fields. Entrepreneurship
The entrepreneurship specialization focuses on the special problems of new venture development and the management of the small business enterprise. The specialization prepares students for entrepreneurial and managerial roles in small ventures, as well as for new venture management and “intrapreneurship” roles in larger firms. By carefully selecting courses in other areas of business, students can prepare for positions in manufacturing, service, or retailing organizations. The specialization requires a practicum (MGMT 476) in which students work with start-up ventures, small businesses, or small business development groups to apply their knowledge to small business problems.

At SIUE, we take our students out into the world and bring the world to our students. Our program curriculum includes subject areas focusing on the languages, literatures, cultures and histories of diverse regions and countries. Our K-12 teacher certification program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (CAEP/ACTFL).

Language learners are brought together in a variety of settings including classroom, language lab, study abroad destinations, language conversation hours and student organizations. While offering opportunities to study many different languages from around the world, we provide a balance between delivering courses to students majoring in foreign languages and literature, and contributing to general education course requirements. At SIUE, the anthropology program emphasizes real-world applications of anthropology, with expertise in community engagement, sustainability, globalization issues, race and processes of racialization, cultural resources and heritage, museology, bioarchaeology, and forensic anthropology. Anthropology develops knowledge of and respect for the biological and cultural diversity of humankind. At SIUE, our students conduct independent research, travel internationally, participate in field work, complete internships and are involved in anthropology-related student organizations and honor societies.
