Homeland Security
Increase your understanding of the origin, nature, and impact of terrorism; intelligence analysis and information sharing; the role of intelligence, homeland security, and criminal justice agencies; and analytic, methodological, and technical skills used to analyze security and intelligence issues. The bachelor’s in business administration program at UAlbany will increase your understanding of fundamental business concepts and provide you with practical skills in your chosen area of concentration.

The master’s in geography offers a two-year thesis track or one-year, non-thesis track. Choose the thesis track if you intend to pursue further academic study or the non-thesis track if you are obtaining a master’s degree to advance your career in the field.

Learn about the economic and social problems facing workers, consumers, businesses, and governments. You will study the major issues facing our society including unemployment, trade imbalances, the environment, education, health care, migration, poverty, financial crises, inflation and debt. The Bachelor of Arts in Economics program at UAlbany prepares you to participate productively in the economy through careers in business firms, financial institutions, government agencies and non-profit organizations.

You will begin the BA in Economics program by studying the principles of microeconomics and macroeconomics. These courses will provide you with the basic concepts of the discipline, including the operation of markets, consumer behavior, firm behavior, how goods are produced, how governments operate, and how growth, the interest rate, unemployment and inflation are determined in the economy as a whole. The intermediate core courses in microeconomics, macroeconomics and economic statistics develop a toolkit of skills and methods that you can apply to your career. You’ll prepare for responsible and effective citizenship, political participation, and advanced academic or professional studies. You will also learn to understand and appreciate different political values, institutions, and processes that operate in local, national, and international systems.

The political science bachelor's program allows you to focus on the subjects that interest you most, with upper-level concentrations available in American politics; citizenship; equality and inequality; global politics; law and institutions; political theory; political economy and development; public law; security and statecraft.

Citizenship
Citizenship is a central concept to the study of politics with deep historical roots and increasing tension in modern political life. Courses in this concentration focus on the concept from both the theoretical and empirical standpoints in the U.S. and globally. You will examine citizenship from the individual and institutional perspectives. You will also learn what it means to be a citizen from a legal and a normative vantage point, as a political identity, and in the public policy process.

Get advanced training and experience in the theory and practice of city planning, design, and development in the Master of Regional Planning (MRP) program at the University at Albany.

This program prepares you to assist community leaders, elected officials, and the public with issues of neighborhood change and preservation, environmental conservation, mobility and accessibility, comprehensive planning and zoning.
