Designed for students with no prior background in accounting or business, this cohort-based program includes four semesters of full-time study that fulfill the education criteria required to obtain initial licensure as a certified public accountant in New York State. (A part-time option is also available for this program. Full-time requires availability days and evenings, Monday-Friday).

Coursework covers management fundamentals, in-depth study of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and practical training in contemporary accounting software and emerging technologies. Advanced topics include liabilities, assets, and income tax; auditing and internal controls; and budgeting and cost-profit analysis. In your last semester, you complete an academic research seminar.

Photography and Related Media
The photography program encourages and facilitates artistic development and sensitivity. Students develop a basic understanding of photographic practices, both historical and contemporary, and explore the myriad ways in which photographs both reflect and define culture. Through courses in black and white and color photography, non-silver processes, and studio photography, students gain empirical knowledge of the many technical and conceptual dimensions of the medium.

The current convergence of most traditional forms of art-making with digital technology presents exciting and complex challenges for artists today. The Photography and Related Media program is structured to empower artists of the future to address these challenges by providing a multi-disciplinary artistic base, informed by a strong foundation in theory and criticism. Students work closely with faculty and peers to develop their unique direction and focus as working artists, utilizing state-of-the-art hardware and software to discover how emerging technologies might inform their work. The multidisciplinary MS in Biodiversity, Conservation, and Policy program at the University at Albany explores the intersections of policy, politics, planning, and conservation biology. Through integrated coursework, you’ll deepen your understanding of the conservation decision-making process as both a scientist and policy analyst.

The master’s in professional accountancy at UAlbany is designed for students with an undergraduate degree in accounting who want to get licensed as a certified public accountant in New York State.

When you enroll in this full-time program, you’ll be eligible to take the Uniform CPA Exam in just one year. If you majored in accounting, you also have the option to earn this graduate accounting degree part-time.

The curriculum builds on your existing knowledge of accounting practice. Course topics include generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), investment valuation methods, data mining and analysis, accounting software and technologies, commercial fraud, auditing, internal controls, budgeting, and cost-profit analysis.
