Political Economy & Development
Comparing policy in the U.S. with those in other nations will provide you with critical insight in a globalized world. Courses in this concentration build an understanding of macro level development by examining the connections between politics and economics. You will learn about nation building, social safety nets, the changing role of nation states and national institutions, and the controversial influence of money on people and policies.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.

As you move through the 49-credit MPA curriculum and complete your professional internship, you learn how to successfully oversee projects, support and motivate teams, improve organizational performance, and monitor policy impact to help solve complex socioeconomic problems.
Public Policy
If you're interested in public policy we have two main concentrations and a set of substantive concentrations in specific policy areas (e.g., health policy; education policy; criminal justice policy; women and public policy, global affairs, etc) that you might choose to design with the assistance of your advisor.
If you're interested in more applied quantitative or qualitative skills in conducting policy analysis, we recommend the Policy Analytic Methods concentration.
If you have an interest in the policy process and politics (i.e., drafting legislation, political advocacy/strategy, lobbying, etc), we recommend the Policy Process, Politics and Institutions concentration.
Learn how to analyze and report on policy issues, and how to manage information resources in the public and not-for-profit sectors.

The master’s in professional accountancy at UAlbany is designed for students with an undergraduate degree in accounting who want to get licensed as a certified public accountant in New York State.
When you enroll in this full-time program, you’ll be eligible to take the Uniform CPA Exam in just one year. If you majored in accounting, you also have the option to earn this graduate accounting degree part-time.
The curriculum builds on your existing knowledge of accounting practice.
