In an era characterized by the proliferation of information, the role of the school librarian is more important than ever. School librarians teach students, teachers and community members how to find and use reliable information, how to be responsible and responsive digital citizens, and how to be both consumers and producers of information.

ISSL’s curriculum combines various disciplines to prepare 21st-century school librarians including: library and information science, education, cognitive science, instructional technology and design, psychology and sociology. The program is aligned to the National School Library Standards and is one of the first school library graduate programs to offer a makerspace course.

Our fully online program is purposefully designed to prepare candidates to be information professionals and leaders as teacher/librarians in New York State and across the nation. We integrate learning experiences throughout the program that enable students to document evidence of their practice on student learning. Thus, in addition to mastering information literacy and technology competencies, our graduates are assessment literate.

Gain cultural fluency and learn the Japanese language from experts in the subject. By combining language instruction, historical explorations and contemporary insights, the Japanese Studies program at the University at Albany gives a truly multifaceted survey of Japan.

Nationally and internationally known scholars are part of this program's faculty, ready to deliver detailed information on Japanese language, history, culture, religion, politics and film. You'll study the language for a minimum of three years, with a selection of other courses delivering essential context, and added insights coming from potential time abroad.

Counseling Psychology Concentration

The 60-credit program integrates behavioral science studies with acquisition of practical counseling skills in supervised settings. Concentration options include biomedical sciences, biostatistics, environmental health, epidemiology, health policy and management, and social behavior and community health.

Accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health, the two-year MPH program includes professional internships that let you directly contribute to the success of public programs that aim to eradicate disease, develop vaccines, reduce infant mortality, ensure food safety, monitor water quality, and more.

Social Behavior and Community Health
Explore the ways population health is affected by individuals, groups, and culture. Learn how to evaluate the effectiveness of strategic public health interventions and design and improve community health programs to reduce the prevalence of risk behaviors and improve health service delivery.

The BA in Anthropology program features four subfields covering archaeology, biological anthropology, cultural anthropology, and linguistics. The electives that are offered will help you to focus your passions within a subfield in areas like ancient languages, symbology, physiology, religion, and native cultures. A faculty advisor will guide you to tailor your curriculum to your career goals.

A minimum of 36 credits in anthropology are required, including:

• Of the 21 additional credits in anthropology, no more than 6 may be at the 100 level and at least 12 must be at the 300 level or above.

Epidemiology
Prepare for a career in epidemiology by learning about practices such as surveillance, etiology, and prevention and intervention program evaluation. The interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy and Management at UAlbany will give you a broad understanding of the relationships between government legislation, public policy, economics, politics, civil rights, regulation and finance, and city, state, federal, and global affairs.

The program includes foundational coursework and electives in management and politics, and quantitative methods and policy. Then you get to earn a concentration in the area of study that best matches your personal interests and career goals.
