Technology and Policy
We cannot imagine a world without technological advances, but is technology always helpful? What can go wrong if an algorithm is poorly designed? You will practice technical skills, including programming and geospatial analysis, and gain a broad understanding of emerging trends in information and technology.

Learn how governments, political organizations, individuals, and nations act to create and realize public values and goals. You’ll prepare for responsible and effective citizenship, political participation, and advanced academic or professional studies. You will also learn to understand and appreciate different political values, institutions, and processes that operate in local, national, and international systems.

The political science bachelor's program allows you to focus on the subjects that interest you most, with upper-level concentrations available in American politics; citizenship; equality and inequality; global politics; law and institutions; political theory; political economy and development; public law; security and statecraft.

Law & Institutions
The rule of law, often overlooked and sometimes contentious, plays a central role in everyday American life. Courses in this concentration focus on the development and operation of the legal system, the work of the branches of government and the interactions of these political institutions with the public. You will learn to consider how laws are constructed and implemented, how they affect ordinary citizens, and the impact they have on public policy debates and political change.

Regulation and Public Finance
Are you focusing your studies on finance? Try learning more about regulations. In this concentration you will explore the important links between regulations and public finances for public (government/non-profit) and private organizations. Concentration courses include Micro and macroeconomics, Broker-dealer Accounting, Regulation, and Auditing.

Public Policy
If you're interested in public policy we have two main concentrations and a set of substantive concentrations in specific policy areas (e.g., health policy; education policy; criminal justice policy; women and public policy, global affairs, etc) that you might choose to design with the assistance of your advisor.

If you're interested in more applied quantitative or qualitative skills in conducting policy analysis, we recommend the Policy Analytic Methods concentration.

If you have an interest in the policy process and politics (i.e., drafting legislation, political advocacy/strategy, lobbying, etc), we recommend the Policy Process, Politics and Institutions concentration.

Learn how to analyze and report on policy issues, and how to manage information resources in the public and not-for-profit sectors.

To develop specialized skills, you can earn sub-concentrations by taking multiple courses in one or two sub-fields:
Policy Analysis
Work at a research institute or a government agency to evaluate how well policies and public programs work. Work as a legislative analyst to identify the best policy to implement. Policy Process, Politics and Institutions
Understand the role of public institutions in policies development and the administration of political systems of the United States and other countries.

Available concentrations include the financial analyst honors program, information systems and business analytics, and marketing. Many combined concentrations are also offered, including entrepreneurship and management.

Marketing
Concentrating in marketing equips you with the knowledge and skills to better understand, analyze, and manage consumer behavior, customer and business relationships, and firm strategy. You will practice applying tools and strategies used by businesses today to identify potential customers, introduce new products to the market, develop branding and advertising campaigns, and analyze market data. You will also be exposed to emerging trends in marketing analytics, services marketing, and social media and digital marketing.

You may either concentrate solely in marketing or choose a combined area of study that will complement your career goals.

Photography and Related Media
The photography program encourages and facilitates artistic development and sensitivity. Students develop a basic understanding of photographic practices, both historical and contemporary, and explore the myriad ways in which photographs both reflect and define culture. Through courses in black and white and color photography, non-silver processes, and studio photography, students gain empirical knowledge of the many technical and conceptual dimensions of the medium.

The current convergence of most traditional forms of art-making with digital technology presents exciting and complex challenges for artists today. The Photography and Related Media program is structured to empower artists of the future to address these challenges by providing a multi-disciplinary artistic base, informed by a strong foundation in theory and criticism. Students work closely with faculty and peers to develop their unique direction and focus as working artists, utilizing state-of-the-art hardware and software to discover how emerging technologies might inform their work. We are committed to a lucid and critical approach to the myriad tools at artists' disposal today.

Printmaking
The Printmaking Program emphasizes artistic innovation and experimentation while offering a thorough grounding in both traditional and contemporary technique. Course offerings include Etching, Silkscreen, Digital Printmaking, Collage, Woodcut, Photopolymer Gravure, Monotype, Artists' Books, and Animation. Printmaking is taught in terms of its relationship to the cultural issues of reproduction, communication, exchange, consumption, rarity, and originality, as well to the practices of drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture. A "print" may be a mixed media work-on-paper; a paper or printed fabric sculpture; a photo-etching created from a digital file, or a wallpaper installation, for example. The technical procedures employed may continue traditions dating to the Renaissance, utilize digital imaging, or combine both approaches in a single printwork.

Art History Research and Internships

• Build a thorough portfolio of skills and knowledge that will prepare you for a career in the art world, as well as graduate school in art history, visual resources curating and management, other art-related graduate programs, and museum studies. You can incorporate internships into this plan for hands-on professional experience.

Film Studies

• Take advantage of the option to fulfill your art history requirements with coursework in Film Studies. Critical studies courses on film history, theory, criticism, and contemporary film topics can accompany video production courses or other hands-on learning and creative output projects.

Honors Program in Art History

• An Honors Program in Art History allows declared Art History majors who have excelled in at least their first 12 credits of Art History coursework to pursue an advanced program of study and independent research. The Honors program will prepare you for pursuing in-depth graduate work in art history, art conservation, museum studies, or film studies.

Human Services: Health, Education, and Labor
This concentration is ideal if you're interested in health and education policy.  Courses and topics in this concentration include genetic makeup, primary and secondary education policy and management, peer-education, and learning. Heavily influenced by the courses from psychology, education, and sociology, this concentration offers depth and breadth of content.

If you like the idea of chasing cyber criminals, thwarting international terrorists, and preventing economic catastrophe when flood waters rise, then a bachelor's in emergency preparedness, homeland security, and cybersecurity may be a good choice for you.

Play an active role in command center simulations and emergency response drills, and gain hands-on experience working with private companies, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies.

This program prepares you for positions in agencies such as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Secret Service, the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Homeland Security
Secure America's towns, cities, borders, airports, seaports, and waterways as a skilled member of law enforcement, immigration and travel security agencies, prevention and response teams, and mission support organizations.
